Yeah you expect him to turn around and say his product was rubbish? He will always justify the sale.

No. The deal was signed and done. In fact, saying it in front of Eddy Cue's face was a bad look for Apple's PR. No justification needed and Apple didn't need the attack.

Like I said Jimmy would justify the sale before and after. You yourself just admitted it by saying the deal was signed and done. Jimmy ain’t care about Apple. He cared about pushing headphones.

If Jimmy doesn't care about Apple, then he doesn't need to push headphones as it doesn't affect him anymore. The point is he's telling the truth because the deal is signed and done.

If your point is that he's trying to justify Apple's purchase, he wouldn't tarnish Apple's PR. You're contradicting yourself.

I don't know what the big issue is here.

If anyone needs the power adapter, you can buy one at cost from Apple for just $29.00.
If you need the earpods, Apple sells those for a remarkably affordable price of just $29.00, probably a loss-leader at this price too.

These ultimate accessories are still available for anyone to purchase.

This is a trend I really don't like.
Mid to low end Android phones have excluded earbuds for years. But that's because they are priced so low. Plus most of them have standard 3.5mm audio jack, so getting a separate wired earbud is not hard. This is in contrast with iPhones, which costs a lot more, and use proprietary lightning port as the audio jack. Lightning earbuds are pricey and not that common (unless you count Beats).

Of course, the trend is not just with Apple. Many flagship Android phones also starting to nix out the earbuds, and this is worse on those flagships without headphone jack, forcing users to find a USB-C earbud, which is not that common either.

Regardless of the reason, the reasoning is simple. When a customer buys the new iPhone, they are most likely will ask/be told about the lack of included accessories, and will end up purchasing them separately anyway. I guess another of Apple's mastery in upselling to boost those Airpods number?

The AC adaptor exclusion is even worse. I mean even $80 Xiaomi phones come with an AC adapter. Excluding this will only encourage people to buy dodgy cheap AC adaptors. It's one thing for a $300 Apple Watch to not have an AC adaptor included, but for a $1000 phone? Regardless of Apple's reasoning, it will feel too much of nickel and dimming.

We can all here brag about having dozens of chargers and earbuds around, but that's us. How would this move align with Apple trying to lure first time users? One of the nice things about iPhones is that at least Apple provided a complete set (phone, AC adaptor, earbud) out of the box so one can immediately use the iPhone (charging and with headset) without needing to buy more stuff. I always thought that's the Apple experience. This will be worse in countries like mine where iPhones already carry an extra $100-$200 premium over the US MSRP.

Here's hoping Apple would only do this to some markets like the US.

Funny enough when I do my meetings via Teams, the vast majority of my colleagues (myself included) use the 3.5mm EarPods...

The never used before EarPods became quite useful in the Covid era for many of us.

And of course, time to sell more Airpods, or at least get some more margin by selling the earpods separately.

So let me get this straight: no earbuds, no charger, raised prices (allegedly) by $100. No need features (except 5G). Who’s going to buy this turd, during Covid times no less?

Well, to be fair, the Galaxy Note 20 didn't come with an earbud and nobody giving a big stink about it...
