I just noticed there is HomePod updates also. Didn't see that mentioned in the main articles today.
I had some trouble getting the update installed. The first time it got stuck and I had to unplug it. Then it took a few more attempts before it found the update again to install.

I know it's a little thing, but that apple logo orientation on boot up has been bugging me for ages. I almost never use my iPad in portrait mode and it just looks stupid when it comes up on boot. Why it took them this long to fix that is beyond me. Edit: This doesn't actually work. Apple logo still sideways on boot. iPad Pro 10.5 inch. WTF does it take to fix this stupid little thing?

*** WARNING *** The Podcasts app is a disaster! On both macOS 11.3 and iOS 14.5.

You'll initially show a bunch of episodes you've already played, though you can go to settings to hide played episodes. And once you do toggle that setting, you'll still likely have a ton of episodes you thought were previously played but aren't.

Even worse, forget about batch editing episodes to mark all as played. You can't even see a list of all unplayed episodes unless you get creative with a smart playlist (or what is called a station for a while now). And now showing all episodes has the most jacked up sorting order ever (groups by years in reverse, but episodes the other way). And it ignores your setting for hide played episodes.

Saved episodes is completely unreliable now. I've lost saved episodes and random other ones (already played) just randomly pop in when I try to resave anything. But wait, there's more.... it now syncs this jacked up saved stuff to other iOS devices and to Mac. So nothing is safe! Turn off the auto "remove downloaded episodes after playing" if you have relied on saving episodes in the past. If the episodes are no longer available, you will lose them!

Apple has shown for years now that it is incapable of making Podcasts better. It has been a disaster since it left iTunes. They have been more interested in getting you to listen to new podcasts than they are in making "it just work" for the ones you have.

This is the final straw for me. I will be moving to Overcast (finally). I've had it with figuring out how to deal with and work around Apple's beta quality updates to Podcasts every. single. year. DONE.

Not really a fan of the change to the ellipses in Apple Music. I have no idea why with every update they increase the amount of taps to perform basic functions and other things that were already fine in Apple Music. I liked being able to visually see which songs I’d already added from a playlist or an album. They did the same thing like 6 or so updates back when they took away the heart indicated a track was “loved” then moved being able to mark a track as loved behind the pop out menu.

"On the ‌iPad‌, the loading screen with the Apple logo now shows up in a horizontal orientation if your ‌iPad‌ is positioned that way."

No. No it does not.

In the Find My app under "Me," there's a new Item Safety Feature that's designed as a precautionary measure for AirTags and Bluetooth-enabled devices that can be tracked using the Find My app.

"Turn Off Item.." and then proceed to put "Disable" button for it? Such a bad UI.

Put 'Disable' in the dialogue box or put 'Turn Off' on the button please.

Ugh.. maybe I missed all the beta discussion, but what is the point of unlocking your phone with your watch if none of the apps that use FaceID work with it? I assumed (lol) that everything called the same FaceID routine, and would work the same.
Since weird covid we been ask to scan qr whatever place we go, imagine to type 6 digit instead 1 tap. Will try it later.

Facebook spent months saying how this was going to hurt small businesses if they couldn’t track you. So far, Facebook hasn’t even asked for permission to track me. I’m looking forward to saying no.

lol as if that will stop them. It’s their entire business model.

I can’t get it to install. It keeps hanging at “preparing update” and nothing I’ve done has fixed it.

I gave up on the entire Apple Podcast ecosystem (macOS and iOS) a long time ago, for this exact same reason, it's a complete and utter disaster of UX and functionality.

I've been very happy with Overcast and Spotify podcasts.

Just don’t put too much faith into FB and their first to third party tracking methods.

I ended up going with iCatcher! for my podcasts. I love how configurable it is and it’s support for multiple playlists.
