So we’ve got a public release, I will ask and forgive my ignorance on this, but I know the HomePod OS is basically tvOS, so in theory does that mean the HomePod will get its update aswell?
But why release the new iOS though? I’m honestly curious. The current version is perfectly fine. Why release it september and not November or even August, for example? Ipad now has its own OS, so why the rush? Here's a thought.. Recognize that the world is upside down right now due to a major pandemic and that sometimes disrupts things... Seriously - SMH..
Why bother? New OS with old iPhones is stupid. Its always a new iPhone to go with the new OS. Apple really screwed up this year.
I went right up to B7 on my iPhone X/sprint and iPad 10.5 pro ... I had to revert to 13 ... I cannot imagine in 1 more beta release that iapple addressed the issues I had

yet we all now 2+2 > 3
My iPhone X is still running iOS 13 like a champ. And my 7 Plus ran iOS 12 well too. I skipped the XS generation and held onto my X and 7 Plus realizing that those two phones combined were better than one XS, and I sold my 7 Plus to help fund the 11 Pro Max.
I’d happily keep this combination for the next year. Starting with the 7 series, I feel like Apple finally started making iPhones with longevity in mind. I feel really bad for all the people who still have 6 and 6S’s though. Those phones were so flawed!
I'm so excited! I need to get this update right away. I will also reset my iPhone before upgrading like I always do every year. It's nice to start clean so I won't miss anything.
I recommend not update to iOS 14 until most developer update their app.
This will be a tough week for all developers including myself.
We need GM Xcode a week before the release instead of a day before the release.

What have developers been doing with the various betas then. They had, what, 8 chances to see what this new IOS was about and maybe update the apps accordingly. I get what you are saying about this is very sudden for developers, but I see it as they have had 2 months to figure out how to optimize their app for the new IOS.
By giving developers only a day, we are NOT going to see many iOS 14 optimized Apps for a few days to a few weeks.
