How does this even work? You manually type in your info? Does it pull/verify from somewhere?
it transfers it from your health care provider, who gave you the shot, or your state. Can't enter it manually, that would be just dumb

If you were vaccinated in a state that has a policy of not implementing this, how hard is it to get a digital card from a different state? It would be worth quite a bit to me to get a real digital card. I suspect the paper cards will not be usable to travel in the near future.

I went to my medical providers app. they had not updated the service, but I was able to download it to Notes and then click on the download and it added to Wallet and Health. cool

It's not necessarily a state thing. If you got vaccinated at Walmart or CVS, for example, you can add it because they're also using the Smart Health Card system. It can be implemented on a state level like California, but also an individual medical provider level.

I have this already with my Australian medicare information. Not impossible to fake but a step in the right direction. Very handy.

The problem is, I got vaccinated at my local healthcare system. Sadly, they don't have Smart Health Card set up. I suspect I am stuck waiting until my local hospital chain gets with the program. My state is actively opposing Smart Health Cards. They would outlaw them if they could.

If done correctly with digital signatures, it basically can be impossible to fake - the reader app won’t validate it unless it was signed with the issuer’s private key. The best you could do is use someone else’s digital card, which would then show their name instead of your’s (you can’t change the name because then the digital signature won’t match), and you’d have to get a very legit-looking fake ID with your photo and their name, which can get you into other trouble.

i have 15.1 on my iphone and for the life of me i can't figure out how to add my vaccination record. There's nothing in the wallet or the health app that allow it to be added. Anyone know how it's done?

Oh, Arizona... guess I won't be able to use this :( Still keeping a photo of my paper vax card on my phone.
It may not be supported at the state level but where did you get your vaccine? I got mine at Safeway and got the electronic record added as a pass in wallet. It looks much like the one in the article.

I'd be surprised if my state (Illinois) gets on board with this. It didn't even jump in on the exposure notifications.

This state is too broke to spend money on this stuff, apparently 😂 Even Wisconsin has exposure notifications. I get an "availability alert" for them in Wisconsin every time I cross the state line.
But we get a website for verification that took an hour to register for only to find out the state doesn’t know who I am! 🤦‍♂️

You do not type in your info. This is pulled from my California state vaccination records and uses the SMART Health Cards specification.
Unfortunately in my state (Kansas) we either a) won’t be able to support this feature, or b) if we do the legislature will pass a law killing it.

How can I do this? I haven't seen that in the NHS covid app
Get the QR code up via the main NHS app (not the COVID specific one) by following the link to get your COVID pass then scroll down and there should be an Add To Apple Wallet button you can tap. Might only apply to the domestic COVID pass, not sure.

I don’t think you could have typed a more Illinois sentence 😂 That doesn’t surprise me. At all 🤦‍♂️

I didn’t even bother with the website. I have the card with me. Our vaccines were given at work, so when I got the card in January, it went right in my wallet. Came out for my second dose in February. It has not come out of my wallet ever since then...haven’t had to show it anywhere.

So my vaccination card says “CDC” on it but it was filled out by hand by the clinic that did the vaccine. I can only assume there is an official record somewhere in some database.

It’s in the general purpose NHS app, not the Covid contact-tracing app.
As someone who only has a domestic COVID pass (yay being in a clinical trial..), does it also work with the international one for you?

Edit: looks like it’s working now. Must have been a glitch in Walmart’s system.

Anyone with Walmart able to add theirs? I get this error.

This has existed in the EU for months.

The US is weird because every big tech co is from there, yet you can be last to the party to all kinds of tech/science related novelties.

Fe, how can it be possible that the country creates Google and Apple yet you don’t have LTE connection with a major carrier at JFK. Smh
