Anyone having issues sending a fairly large 810meg video via iMessages using iCloud ? It’s just spinning after 3 hours on my end as well as the recipient. I already tried sending it twice, deleting the first one then resending. Also rebooted to no avail

Just checked my new MBP, and my old MBP, and no ghost account showed up. Nothing on the iPhone ether.

All fixed ??

I am waiting for the ghost to show up. Then, I will boot in safe mode and kick the rascal out and hopefully that will be the end of it.

iMessage has a maximum file size of 100 MB for attachments, even ones sent via iCloud. It might work if you try sending it via iCloud with an email link.

Thank you!

You don’t need to put the phone in restore mode, that’s a bit old school.

If your on a mac, download the IPSW you want to downgrade to.
Plug your phone into your mac and through finder select your phone.
Hold alt and click on “check for update”
Button, Then select your IPSW.

Phone will delete and reinstall the iOS, only. Data is safe.

Does that work if the ipsw is older than the installed version? Then I have to stand corrected ;-)

Put the phone in Restore Mode and „update“ it with the downloaded ipsw
Thank you!
Don’t put it in restore mode. Just “update” it with the downloaded ipsw.

If you use “restore” you need a backup and may have to reset a load of passwords and re-register banking apps etc. Take a backup just in case something goes wrong but don’t use recovery mode.

I put it in restore mode, not to be confused with DFU mode - which I wouldn’t suggest as well. Restore mode gives you the option to either restore or update, the latter is what you should do

As long as I’ve stayed on the same base iOS, ie 15, wouldnt advise say 15 to 14, I’ve gone up and down increments with ease. Takes about 15mins using that method.

Also I’ve reinstalled the same version if there’s been any bugs first, which has always cleared up any issues because this way deletes the whole iOS and reinstalls a fresh copy. But my phones runs smoother and cleaner only using IPSW for updates too ??

I'd like to think, especially when downgrading, to use Restore or DFU to avoid all possible issues. On release versions, I think this can be done with more surety. I could be wrong here.

I have almost never downgraded, and when I did once or twice, I wiped out the entire OS and reinstalled, again, just for the sake of avoiding any conflicts. So, I do not have any data on that front that I didn't truly need to do that.

If it doesn't make much of a difference, then definitely the fastest way to go at it is the Update method that keeps data intact. Only, I wouldn't like it to keep OS remnants intact as well from the higher version, creating conflicts.

Finder will prompt you if it doesn’t like it. I tried to go from 15 to 14.8 I think it was and it knew that wasnt possible, so I got a big fat no.

So a full restore was needed as I had archived a 14.8 back up.

Indeed, but I was referring to minor conflicts that may/ might occur when upgrading and downgrading. Apple is really good at it, but sometimes, when we are facing issues that are just not resolving in any way, we are left with just that one option - to completely erase and reinstall. It is not a quick job, can take time depending on what we do with our phones and how we store data... so not the preferred choice, obviously.

Not sure if it's related. But yesterday I got a pop up stating something along the lines of requesting to use mobile data instead of wifi , wifi wasn't lost as I checked with my other devices around the house.
