Cool story. Your proof is what? Oh that's right. Apple said so.
If you don't trust Apple, you shouldn't use an iPhone. It's a closed system and it's impossible to be aware of everything Apple can do when they control almost everything on the device.

You're catching a lot of flack, but I'm with you on this one. There is a reason why they call this stuff a slippery slope.Yuck! CSAM. First wave of Roll Out, Watch! Don’t let Apple use the word “Kids” as an excuse. This is CSAM. It’s all related, connected.
Is there a way to disable this feature? Or is it set by default by Apple?
SMH!

Apple's new Rebellious Culture is now Against their Company's decision to join the fight against Child Abuse Material (CSAM)
Back in June, a large group of Apple employees openly rebelled against the company's back to work policy set by Apple's CEO Tim Cook. The latest issue to be brewing at Apple concerns the company's fight to protect children from predators and child pornographers. A rebellious group at Apple is...www.patentlyapple.com

So many disagreements… you guys don’t play around here.
If this is all true… then this is a good addition. CSAM is way more controversial honestly. I hope it is not connected to CSAM.
I believe it’s related. It was all related from the beginning. Now, Apple decided to change the wording and all of a sudden it has to not deal with CSAM?
As predicted, Apple is going to sneak CSAM into iOS peacemeal after the backlash (and rightfully so) they received when they tried shoving it in all at once. People, the EFF and countless others need to keep Apple's feet to the fire and demand they abandon this backdoor spyware IMMEDIATELY & COMPLETELY. The Apple Apologists need to wake up and realize what their beloved company is doing.
Apple can no longer be trusted with privacy or security.
Someone help me out here...whether its Opt in or out....the feature is officially programmed and built in, thus it would come to down to trusting apple / backdoors, right?
Go buy a Samsung Galaxy .. Problem solvedI predict that there will be a rush of App Updates, targeting iOS 15.1, as many, me included, believe many Apple consumers won't go past iOS 15.1 !
And, if Apple doesn't provide assurance that new iPhones won't include iOS 15.2, iPhone Unit Sales will "stall-out" considerably !
Make NO mistake, a Death Blow to iPhone Unit Sales is coming !
Apple moving things up a NOCH. This is not CSAM btw.
For real, can you just read the article? It’s an OPT-IN security feature
It is already an opt-in feature. It will be disabled by default, parents who want the feature can enable itNo, it is Apple trying to play parent. Something they need to stay out of!
This should be an app and parents can install if wanted.
Don’t want to play semantics but a feature designed for children security can be called a security feature. It isn't a security feature.

The difference between this and CSAM is that this does not compare hashes or report to anyone. It uses an algorithm to search for any nude just like it finds cats in your photos. The result is a burred image and a message. So even if there is a back door where someone figures out how to turn this toggle on in your phone with out you knowing, the worse thing that will happen is you will get some blurred images. At that point you will know you were hacked and get it fixed. No real big consequence here if something should go wrong.Someone help me out here...whether its Opt in or out....the feature is officially programmed and built in, thus it would come to down to trusting apple / backdoors, right?
What’s the difference? Lol.This should be an app and parents can install if wanted.
"Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things."There is a reason why they call this stuff a slippery slope.
A lot of knee jerking 🦵🏻 going on here from people who haven't even read the article!

Make NO mistake, at some point, Apple will flip the switch & reverse it !
They will do it in the dead of night, when nobody is paying attention !
This is probably done though the age set on the Apple ID and the Family Sharing Settings which allow the parents to tell Apple that the ID is for someone younger than 13I’m curious how the code you saw knows the device owner is < 13 yoa to send a notification a parent?
No one should "trust" Apple. If you don't trust Apple, you shouldn't use an iPhone. It's a closed system and it's impossible to be aware of everything Apple can do when they control almost everything on the device.
I'm certain they did.If you don't trust Apple, how do you know they didn't add all sorts of creepy tracking/spying/reporting stuff five years ago, and they're just keeping it a secret -
Never said it was. I'm positive they are full of it on all of these topics, and always have been. Why is everything fine up to this point, but NOW you think they're out to spy on you?
So you are willingly using devices which you believe spies on you?I'm certain they did.

Being an app, Apple can tweak and enhance this without tying it to an OS update. What’s the difference? Lol.
