Bit like buying a car and two years later being forced to put in a camera and microphone to spy on your trips !
I wish I knew Apple were going to spy on my private stuffz when I bought my phone but I didn't, I wonder what else they are doing they are not telling me about ? ?

Yes, I get that.
My take is that Apple should not be trying to play parent. That is NOT their purview.
Now take this functionality and make it an app.

Instead Apple builds it into the OS adding more bloat.
So those that have this on for the child phone, the kids will mostly blow right through it IF they are even using Messages.

Not seeing the sense in this.
It’s amaZing how easily how some follow a business like a religion. Defend at all cost.

Apple isn't playing the parent. The parent is playing the parent. What's wrong with warning a child about harmful content?

Harmful based on Apple's opinion.
Make it an app and let parents install functionality like this if they want it.
Why make it part of the OS? If you need to fix it or change functionality you don't require an OS update.
Most users will not utilize this. For them it is bloat.

Can't believe Apple has the audacity to add features that people want.

How many features do you NOT use on the iPhone that are there for people who WANT them? Having options is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Sounds to me like you just wanna complain because you think it's the cool thing to do.

Heck, my TV has features I'll never enable, but I can see why they're there.

I really hope you can switch to some other device/OS so you can go see how truly great it is on the other side of the fence. Meanwhile, we'll be over here and our lives will be exactly the same as they were before.

No, it’s nothing like that at all. Not even a little bit.

Who wants this? After the last pushback ... I am only seeing that message from ... Apple.

Kindly do me a favor and don't try to "assume" my reasons.
As a parent, grandparent, and foster care resource, I have my own reasons for disliking functionality like this.

I honestly don't really care what you want. It's not about you. If you don't like it, leave Apple's ecosystem. Teach them a lesson.

Seriously?
Believe what you
Genius, how to you think they recognize faces in your photo albums? Seriously, is everyone on here a 12 year old? It always amazes me how people can frequent tech sites but still remain as ignorant as the average Joe.

Many of us have concerns over this functionality.
Then simply don’t enable it for the people you know who are under the age of 13.
It’s literally that simple, if you don’t like it, don’t use it.
The iPhone also includes like two dozen extra ringtones that I’m not using, does that mean that they should just get rid of them? Just because I don’t like them, just because I’m not using them?
No!
And given that this is a feature specific to the Apple Messages application, if you don’t like it, you can easily choose to just not use the Apple Messages application. There’s other options out there if it concerns you that badly, which it shouldn’t.
Once again, a disclaimer. I do not support the CSAM scanning feature that was introduced. That is something different that I do not support. This is something that I do support

You are missing the point.
1. I and many others are not in favor of this functionality. That has been apparent to Apple as they are playing with changing the functionality.
2. Personally I would rather have something like this as an app instead of baked into the OS.

No, he doesn't like features added unless he will specifically use them. It's all about him and what he wants.
