Not carplay related (my car is too old), but we've been having an odd audio issue with my wife's iPhone 12 with iOS 15... when connected to my car stereo via USB the Music app plays fine, but if we try to play anything from the Audible app then as soon as the phone locks the audio gets muted. The car stereo shows as still playing - i.e. track time keeps advancing - but there is no sound coming from the speakers. Unlock the phone and the audio comes back.

is it me or do the last couple of releases 13--15 seem to have a quality decline? We get told by Apple the "lack of major new features" is due to quality and stability improvements behind the scenes, yet lately sure doesn't feel like that.
Not just you, there has been a definite decline all around.

For whatever reason Siri has been using a horrible voice (think classic Mac OS dictation) when I’m on CarPlay. It’s not my car’s assistant’s voice and it’s only for some Siri requests like reading messages.

It also causes crashes on older phones. My 11 refuses to play music through third party apps when I switch to navigation.

No CarPlay issues for me - I am using Carlinkit 2.0.

iOS bugs for me:
-I have the reported "touch bug" where I can't swipe up to enter the phone menu
-on my MacBook Pro I sometimes have to try to connect twice to my wireless hotspot

I am annoyed by the non-responsive screen issues where apps just suddenly freeze. I have had this happen in Safari quite a bit, too. Maybe I should make it a point to wait for the first point release for each major iOS revision. Someone remarked in this thread regarding Apple's trying to keep to a release time table in spite of all the pandemic related pressures, and I can totally respect that.

My car has a simple Bluetooth connection and on the info screen it now says "T-Mobile Wi-Fi" even though it's connected to the cellular network. Not a major issue..but another bug.

I foresee, and hope for, a iOS 15.1 update in the very near future 🤞🏻

Not related, but my iPhone 8 has been running the battery down much faster since I updated as soon as iOS 15 was released, even after all this time and several restarts...

The iOS 15 defect backlog must be massive at this stage.

It’s rare the new phones have such different issues to released devices and even times in the past that there have been issues we usually got a X.0.1 on release day. This is just poor quality. Again it’s embarrassing.

This got stupid after the fourth/fifth article, I cannot believe iOS 15 has issues in this many key features. I expect bugs, but these reports are entire FEATURES that do not work.

It's odd that these issues occur on the 13 line specifically. Why would this occur on a 13 but not a 12 if its all software related 🤔

Maybe if Apple stopped to clean up the OS a bit instead of shoehorning in crappy new features that nobody wants or asked for, we could have a stable OS for a year which everyone does want and asks for

I’ve not actually had this issue yet with my company 2017 Civic but I’ve had the screen freezing and FaceID bug with Apple Watch and iPhone 13 mini.

It might be due to iOS gradually becoming too big for its own good. In the old days, there were far fewer apps (even from Apple) and a lot less complexity to the system. Now iOS is keeping track of all sorts of things, not just GPS coordinates and weather, but from any devices in Find My to HomeKit devices to the number of steps you're taking to where you parked your car to Apple Watch data to third-party app data and on and on. It must be an absolute nightmare to debug all that these days.

I've noticed a lot of audio bugs with CarPlay. Every time I start Waze of Google Maps audio stops completely and I have to manually restart whatever audio I was playing, even if it was just the radio. And often audio does not come back after sending a text.

I was hoping 15 would start fixing some of this stuff but it's getting worse. The amount of time I have to spend dealing with CP while driving is getting scary.
