still a lot of MacBooks out there that are not supported anymore, and they seem to be fine! im sure the 6's won't just explode or something!

I just realized how Apple will justify the drop of support for these devices. They will say that iOS 15 can’t run on any device that doesn’t have a quad core processor, which would be these. In terms of iPads too, these iPads also don’t support the Apple pencil so that could be one too.

As for the phones, these were also the last to have headphone Jacks, so they could maybe work off that angle too.

I’m sure A9X will get iPadOS 15 and don’t forget that is Dual Core as well

I believe that Apple will make an 2021 iPhone mini with the new on-screen Touch ID sensor. That's the phone you may want to update to late this fall.

That would be great if Apple doesn't ask a fortune again for this new model. Current prices are just too much.

I just got the battery replaced of my SE at the Apple Store. It turned out that while the battery seemed not be worn out that much, it actually was. The 80% capacity showed in the battery condition section didn't look bad, but actually the power management was already throttling down the CPU a lot. Now after battery replacement, my SE is running smooth again like it was when it was new.

Our 2 2017 iPhone SEs were at 86-84% capacity (health and coconut) and were having horrible problems all around. It would drop cell phone connections. At around 30-40% battery it would simply die with 0% battery. It was slow. Some software like DJI Drone wouldn't even load. It would loose wifi connections. Bluetooth was spotty. We replaced the batteries. Like new. These little phones (first gen SE, and likely second gen SE) probably only have an 18-24 month battery life. I am a *very* light user of the phone. I actually don't use it really. I have an ipad and mac mini and work at home. I have every intention of NOT upgrading. We ended up upgrading one of the 2017 iphones because we broke the home button when opening it up. My husband looooves his new 2020 SE, likely because the first gen SE was pretty much broken for the past year. The screen is bigger, I'll give it that. But so is the entire 2020 SE phone that is no longer as pocketable.

sounds like A9 will be dropped - curious about A9X iPad Pro support? 🤔
Usually apple will drop support of both the normal and X version of the chip at the exact same time for example it happened with the iPad 2 and 3 with the A5 and A5X on iOS 9 and the next year with iOS 10 they were both dropped so what I am saying is if the A9 gets iOS 15 so will the A9X but if the A9 does not get iOS 15 the A9X won’t either

although your right to some extent you have to see exactly the differences between the non x and the x versions because they lost support for different reasons

A5 and A5X didn’t get iOS 10 because of CPU (and no 512MB devices besides iPad 3 compatible with iOS 10 either)

A6 and A6X didn’t get iOS 11 because of that OS being purely 64bit

A7 and the enhanced A7 on the Air no iOS 13 because of 1GB Of RAM

However A8X is in a interesting spot because A8 of Mini 4 is still getting iPadOS 14 but 6 lineup and 6th Gen touch for iOS 12 because of said reasons above regarding RAM

the thing is in regards to A9X I believe your wrong. It will get iPadOS 15 over A9 devices because

1. CPU power single and multicore of both 9.7 Pro (at 2.16Ghz) and 12.9 Pro (at 2.26Ghz) are better than the A10 of iPod Touch 7th Gen in Geekbench scores (A10 of iPod Touch is 1.64 GHz). Also 12.9 inch one has 4GB of RAM more than the A10 lineup of 3GB/2GB, 9.7 inch pro has 2GB of RAM and is much better than A10 of iPod Touch as well

also A9X is built on exclusive hardware, 2 high performance cores of that speed combined with the metal heat spreader will Keep it cool

Any updates on if the 6S will be supported with IOS 16? I can't find anything through a web search.

I have iOS 15 on my 6s. The battery drains very fast. I think I might finally pull the trigger on a new phone later this year or next year.

Here's to hoping we get one more year of support for the 6s!

I have a 6s Plus as a backup phone. I still love the headphone jack, 4k camera, 1080p display, 3D touch, and home button with 2nd gen Touch ID.

Looking up iPhone sales the 6s was just about the best selling iPhone ever. I bet lots of people still use this phone especially worldwide once you consider people in poorer countries.

We still use one at work. However I prefer my iPhone 13.

Haha. I was wondering what seemed off. You are getting upset over a forum from 17 months ago. So looking into my crystal ball (and a little googling) I can say without any equivocation that yes iOS 15 will support the 6s I hope you can now sleep at night. No word yet on 16 which will be announced next week

Apple, please don't drop iPhone 6S. No problem and don't care 2016 SE because the stupid 16GB storage on my backup 2016 SE can not even do normal IOS updates.
Waiting to upgrade for smaller notch iPhone like upcoming pill-hole iphone 14.
