Should also be pointed out that those of us who previously paid for 1Password, and are still using stand alone vaults with no subscription, can not only NOT use the new extension, but they took away the existing share sheet with no warning.

But they integrated it into the iOS password system, so you don’t need a share sheet to use it. I haven’t used the share sheet since.
Yeah, that option as least is still there, but I found that it doesn't necessarily works on all websites. There are a couple (even quite popular ones - often sites where the designers decided to be fancy and ignore standards...) where I had to resort to the share sheet.

Are there any extensions that deactivate whatever code it is in ads that prevents you from scrolling past them? That really grinds my gears.
Create a shorcuts for execute JavaScript on the page with this code :
Code:
document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0].style = 'overflow : visible';
completion(true);

Have to manually use it, so it isn't the best, but most of the time, I can scroll after that

Re: Achoo HTML viewer

It looks nice, yet I could not get the editing mode working. Clicked “Edit” > a pop-up window asked me to select an element to edit > clicked on “Close” pop-up window > selected an element and… it stays selected without the relevant portion of the HTML being displayed. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Besides, trying to use it on an iPad without a physical keyboard is quite awkward, as the on-screen keyboard takes half of the window. So I guess I am better off with a real HTML inspector, preferably on a Mac/PC.

I bought Dark Reader the other day and it’s great, but it does not activate or deactivate automatically based on the system dark/light setting.
The description of Noir implies that it can do that. Can anyone confirm? Hopefully Dark Reader can implement this as well if it’s apparently technically possible.

Edit: Looks like they already have! :)

I paid for it once about a year and a half ago through their site.

I get the new features for ios15 won’t work, but what did they remove? Is the app still usable?

Dark Reader now supports iOS and iPadOS. It shares the same purchase as the MacOS app.

AdGuard is working to make the iPadOS/iOS version to feature parity with the MacOS Safari version. It's due in coming weeks.

ublock Origin said that the changes still don't allow it to build a real ad blocker for Safari on any platform, despite the advancements.

Too bad for uBlock Origin, it's this the best tools to have vs ad 😢

1Password is The Gold Standard for generating encrypted passwords. It's easy to use and Robust with a capital R. It's worth every penny.

If you have more than one family member using a computer, iPad, iPhone, whatever, I highly recommend the Family Plan.

No, I do not work for 1Password, get even one penny of compensation or any freebies; I just believe in it after using it since it started years ago, Oh, their support staff is second to none.
I feel the same way. I love our family plan for sharing certain important passwords/documents. Maybe I'm missing something but I'm not loving the extension in Safari. Initially I enabled it but then when I opened Safari this morning, 1Password extension was locked and wanted my master password which is very long and complex. I rarely need to enter it manually since FaceID usually takes care of it. I couldn't see a way to unlock it without the master pass.

Is this the app you’re referring to? I can’t find “1Blocker X” in the App Store
Ah, yes. It used to be 1Blocker X, but I guess they dropped the “X”.

Amplosion and Nior just made my Safari browsing a lot less annoying.

I just need something to auto reject cookie prompts.

The best currently available based on my testing is AdGuard non-Pro. It blocks everything except a small subset of the first-party ads (e.g. Quora). It even blocks Google Search Ads and YouTube Web ads, and have an extension that can force YouTube Web PiP playback. I used to use the paid Webblock app, but it is not maintained now, so blocking is getting worse.

I've been using extensions in Safari on iOS for years (such a Wipr), how is this new?

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but xSearch is AMAZING. It essentially enables any custom search engine to be searchable via the search field in Safari.

You just need to use a shortcut. So I have my Searx instance set up on there, and I just type ‘x’ before any search and it appears in Searx.

Actually, Keepass is the gold standard for this.

Woot! Thanks Juli, blows my mind for three of my apps to make the list. Hope everyone likes Amplosion, it was a lot of fun to build and really nice to finally have. It's open source too if anyone wants to take a peak behind the curtains of what it does, Safari extensions can request quite a bit of permissions so I wanted to be pretty forthcoming with everything.
Apollo is fantastic and I hope you are making BANK in your apartment on the couch.

I was excited to see that there is an extension for 1Password in Safari, but became highly disappointed when I realized it only works with 1Password subscriptions and not local vault. Immediately removed that extension. :(

Thanks for the suggestion, buddy! I haven’t tried AdGuard in a long time but just gave it another go. For me, PiHole + AdGuard is 🤌 ! Bravo!

I wasn't that excited, nor disappointed. So removing the extension was immediate. No subscription at this point.

But I also realize that subscription won't go away. Many devs will go this way to survive I guess.
It doesn't mean I will pay gladly to all of them, hell no!
But my time is valuable as well - so it all depends on what I really can receive from a subscription. How much it saves me.

I'm less an opponent today than what I was. But I will chose my subscriptions carefully.
Most definitely don't see a reason to subscribe to 1Password today. Local vault is fine with me. Ask me in a year...
I tried for a time to 'survive' with PhraseExpress when TextExpander went subscription before I gave in.
Hope it doesn't come to a struggle to not subscribe to 1Password - more other app options as well to check out - time will tell.

Previously only 'content blocking' (ad block) extensions were allowed. Which is what Wipr is. Now any kind of extension can be made and directly manipulate websites in many more ways.

1Blocker X has been great for me. It can block ads, trackers, social widgets, annoyances, etc. it also has a ton of flexibility for custom blocking and whitlisting. I currently have it set to block third-party javascript on all but a few sites as well. That alone cuts a ton of junk.

With iOS 15 it can block youtube ads too.
How do you manage to block YouTube ads with 1Blocker? I am still seeing ads prior to a video starting.
