I must be one of the lucky ones as I haven't noticed any adverse effects yet on my XR, Safari seems no slower and I love the new bottom address bar layout...

What? 😕
What I meant was, that the iPhone 8 never had a good battery. I had mine replaced twice within the warranty but to no avail. Ended up with a battery case/cover that got me thru the day. Even the SE of my wife later was better, in fact, its still running. But that was several years ago?
I now use a 12mini and despite what every one is saying, that batterie gets me thru the day without problems. Love that tiny phone. Smaller then the 8/SE with bigger screen. Running flawless on 14.8.
Only my iPad mini 6, 1 week old, came with 15 and it is a disaster. So none of our devices got upgraded until the mini works.

Yeah, my keyboard sometimes disappears and the screen gets unresponsive. I get the feeling it's less optimised too as it reloads web pages constantly when I go into Safari (annoying if I go to an app like notes to find info to put in a web form then it reloads nearly every time).

But hey, it's a 6S, I'm an early adopter, and they usually need to be x.0.1 or x.1 to largely have no annoyances in my experience! :)

I bought my iPhone 8 on the 27th November 2019 and have no complaints.

Until I updated from iOS 14.8 to iOS 15 my Battery Health was 99% but within two days it dropped to 97%.

Even allowing for the usual extra use of the battery while the new system organises itself it seems to me it's lasting a little less time before requiring a charge. I'm not a heavy user, I do most of my work on my MacBook Pro, but previously the battery lasted 3 days, now it's just about 2 days.

That's all.

It is not possible to get every single bug during a beta test. There are also some bugs you have to be willing to live with during updates/deployments.

That said, this is also what happens as a function of everyone working from home. While I am a work from home advocate, going 100% remote has losses in collaboration which we are seeing here. While it was necessary for the pandemic, a post pandemic return to office, even part-time, is kind of necessary to facilitate collaboration and relationship building.

Maybe for some aspects or projects. I can’t agree with you on this. WFH is more like a scape-goat than a significant reason.
Been doing global projects for years and that is quite close to “work from home”. We have all kinds of collaborative tools.
In all, the developer/public beta testing has not yielded the fruit many have hoped for and based on what we have seen in more than a few of the last releases, something is broken within the Apple process.

Must be a knockoff dictionary or maybe you cant read what I said? Never said Apple was the government but that's an interesting take for sure. I am not sure how you know about the second part unless you work for Apple? If so, please get me a shirt from their store in California, please!

It's all right to be educated, it's not a conspiracy if it has been done in the past with other companies, just have to imagine what the future plans are. It's CSAM right now but what about in the future, they already have access to our photos, let's expand that to other services. Remember when apple blocked third parties from tracking us but you can literally go on settings and see Apple does it now and twists the name for ads....

:)
"government surveillance" is what you said. Unless the government put CSAM scanning on your phone, I stand by my post.

Just a note: this process, including with Apple in the midst has yet to be legally challenged. There are several legal venues and even the ACLU that feel this needs to be challenged providing Apple does implement these features. That’s just in the US.

If you have nothing to hide why is CSAM plans an issue... protecting the innocent or mentally challenged is society's responsibility. Download iOS 15 and embrace a company that unlike a lot of commercial bodies is open about the importance of personal privacy... I repeat if you have nothing to hide.. you have nothing to fear! Stop listening to the media and research the facts, CSAM does not allow anyone to view your private images.
"If you have nothing to hide why..." is the sentence used by probably every government before eventually implementing fascist policy / laws. "Won't anyone think of the CHILDREN" is a close second.

It's a clear slipper slope. Before anyone says it, no - this is not a 'conspiracy theory' and no - this is not a 'slippery slope fallacy' if Apple has already demonstrated, based on objective history, that they will clearly acquiesce to any government pressure / policy / law regardless of their company's public positions on politics or justice.

Just two weeks ago: "Apple and Google bow to pressure in Russia to remove Kremlin critic’s tactical voting app." What happens when a government tells / orders Apple to utilize their technology installed for the CSAM purpose to spy on political dissidents, anyone sending memes of 'misinformation' / wrongthink or anything critical of their government or its laws? This technology will allow for insanely invasive government fascism very quickly and should absolutely be fully abandoned forever.

This really is one of the worst iOS rollouts. Most of my contacts triplicated, many of them were lost completely, my passwords didn't move over, Apps keep crashing, causes my CarPlay to crash, and airdrop/ bluetooth doesn't work as efficiently as it used to. For some reason airdrop will not sent to my contacts by name, I have to open it up to share with everyone in order to find their phones even though they show up as a contact.

Hopefully Apple will release updates soon, I've been a long time Apple user but this experience has been the worst one in my opinion.

How will this change your dealings with Apple? Sounds good from a stick-it-to-them type of comment , but what does it mean?
When iOS 14 is no longer supported, I’ll look at other vendors (and I’ll include things like LineageOS in my appraisal).

Felt for a long time we need to live in a tri-polar mobile world and this sort of thing only reinforces that.

Please, enough with the misuse of "fascist" and "fascism"!

Not everything or everybody you disagree with is "fascist".

I agree that not everything or everybody I disagree with is "fascist" and in no way did I assert that as a fact or my position. You're trying and failing to build a strawman here to try and discount my entire point which is arguing in bad faith and incorrect.

What I'm discussing here inarguably IS fascism. Godwin's Law doesn't apply as I never mentioned Nazism in any way, simply fascist governments and policies - these predate Naziism by thousands of years - and the example I gave was of Russia.

Fascism is "authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power and forcible suppression of opposition."

In this case, I'm literally discussing Apple cow-towing to governments (Russia) characterized by dictatorial power (Putin) and forcible suppression of opposition (Apple and Google bow to pressure in Russia to remove Kremlin critic’s tactical voting app).

With so many bugs/issues, people who know about them should definitely put on hold plans to update their iOS devices. I am not going to update my iPhone any time now.

Hopefully Apple will fix all the issues real soon.

yeah, but i disagree with all fascists, and if a thumb is a finger then all fingers are thumbs.
Riiight... 🤔 anti-bad guy squad.jpg

I'm not planning to downgrade this time why? 14.8 wasn't great regarding battery life on all my devices (IMO of course).

I, and anyone else with GA at a big brand, know adoption as of the last couple of days is around 5%. It was around 4% last weekend. 20% is a ludicrous figure.

Ma adaption rate to my new Samsung S20FE is at 70% as I get rid of my iPhone 12Pro.
I WILL NOT have Apple spying on my with iOS15 !

It’s not just “get woke, go broke,” it’s also “get woke, lose focus on your work and watch your products fail.” That seems to be what has happened. Can the Jobsian work ethic take back control from the wokesters inside the company who believe that the purpose of Apple is social activism, not putting out insanely great products? Probably not in this climate. And, among the loyal customers, the trust factor is evaporating. Makes me weep.

That's a pretty massive stretch to tie the pejorative 'woke' to fighting against child pornography. Make sure you take two Advil as you back will be sore tomorrow.

It’s not how it works at all.. the worst thing is, is you probably know this. So knowingly spreading FUD is actually what you’re doing here… like so many more. Not liking something for how it works is one thing, making stuff up to make it sound worse is a whole other level.
Once you hit a certain criteria (I think 30 matches) a person reviews your images.
