I'm pretty sure if Steve Jobs was still around, there would have been some employees told to leave the company. Apple is not hiring the best engineers anymore. There is a high turnover rate. Apple got too PC in their hiring practice and should be hiring the "best" with a salary that will keep that employee at Apple for many years. There is also a high burnout rate since employees have to work long hours. With a high turnover, it is like starting all over again with a learning curve that the new employee has to go through, and the user community has to suffer.

Heres an idea…..stop with the yearly updates other than supporting new hardware. Then they can brag they have th most stable software around while other companies are chasing the spotlight with garbage year after year. All of this stuff should just be updated through the year which would give them constant positive headlines. Like…oh 14.9 adds quick notes on iPad….14.10 adds new imessage features, etc etc.

This cramming of everything into a yearly .0 release clearly IS NOT WORKING WELL ANYMORE.

Does anyone know if there's a bug with notifications? Currently, I'm not getting the pop up bubble on iMessage or Spark Mail showing the number of unread messages. I can't figure out why that's happening. Notifications are enabled for both apps. IOS 15, iPhone 13PM.
I haven’t been receiving notification sounds all summer. Nor do they light up my screen. On iPhone, they do appear on my screen once I wake it. On iPad, with 15.1 beta 2, it does make a sound, but doesn’t wake screen or appear on Lock Screen. I’m pretty sure this is related to the new Focus feature, which keeps distractions to a minimum. But they’ve created a monster.

There’s a part of me that’s pretty sure Craig Federighi gets paid plenty. He’s just not the perfectionist looking for Steve Jobs’ approval like Scott Forstall. A possible explanation of why Jony Ive was so heavily involved in iOS 7, perhaps? 😒

HomeKit/Siri is a mess right now too. I have loads of HK stuff, automations and scenes and prior to iOS 15 Siri would set the scenes nearly instantly but now it’s “on it… still working… ok done” over like 30 seconds. It’s really frustrating. The lights all do what they’re supposed to instantly but Siri is obviously confused.

Automations are still not quite working correctly either. The Home app is a shambles. Why isn’t it able to periodically “ping” devices to check their status instead of just labeling everything permanently as “no response”. It is the app I find myself force quitting the most of any app on my iPhone.

There are so many things to fix each year --- by the time they ever get close to accomplishing it, they force push yet another new major release out and the whole cycle starts again.

It's software suicide.

Why they are doing this to themselves (and the rest of us) is hard to understand.

Nobody wants or needs a brand new macOS/iOS/iPadOS release every single calendar year just because new hardware comes out.

Stretch out the release schedule and work on fixing things!!!

Brand new iPad mini, comes compulsory with iPad OS 15. 8,3" screen reduced to 7". Widgets not usable. Going online it needs up to 10 seconds to render the first page, after that, its ok.
Copied everything from the iPad mini 5 (14.8) running perfect but nothing fits on the mini 6.
Apple gives no way to downgrade to 14.8
Love the device but it really bums it down.

If you have nothing to hide why is CSAM plans an issue... protecting the innocent or mentally challenged is society's responsibility. Download iOS 15 and embrace a company that unlike a lot of commercial bodies is open about the importance of personal privacy... I repeat if you have nothing to hide.. you have nothing to fear! Stop listening to the media and research the facts, CSAM does not allow anyone to view your private images.
On that basis can we presume you don't even passcode your devices then? Nothing to hide after all.

Honestly the nothing to hide argument is vomit worthy. How many civil liberties are you willing to give up before you finally wake up that you've been giving them a finger at time before they take the hand and then the arm to use an analogy. And I'm sorry once you given them the said arm/hand its too late to get it back.

The CSAM itself and the mechanism itself is not bad I mean its like the best topic to get people to say cool we accept it because the concept itself is so abhorrant, But its the implication of what it could be used for. Apple as a company has stated they will follow all local laws. So they can't guarantee that pressure by governments to use this for other ways is not feasible.

Did anyone else read the recent news about Russia, Removing voting apps and switching off the new IP hiding security functionality in Russia even when it worked in the Betas.

And common, when it s comes to China lets face it Privacy is out the window. So they've bent over for China and now Russia who or where is next? Apple does a better job than most companies but they're far from perfect. CSAM just opens doors for other things. Keeping the doors closed is the only way I'll believe they're actually the champions of privacy they say they are.

As a friend of mine put it "I don't like being thought of a child pornographer by default/what happened to being innocent until proven guilty"

This is the future of Big Tech, what with priority of youknowwhat dictated by useless HR (unless dismantling a corporation is, in fact, useful).

There will be no change and apple will bite their pride, their culture, their short lived glory all the way.

Unless, apple is willing to cannibalise their own culture, own tradition, and throw the pride out of window the second they have it.

Sadly, I agree.

I just don't get it..
Software versions need not be coupled to hardware this tightly.
Super frustrating

Don't know if others experiencing this, but iOS 15 on iPhone 12 battery drains quicker than it was on iOS 14
(maybe some App issues that not optimised yet or iOS issues) 💁‍♂️

Knew better than to upgrade to a .0 release. This is pretty terrible QC. It’s been awhile since I’ve considered another go at an Android phone but if the new pixel phones live up to the hype certainly going to be tempted to switch next time I’m due for a new phone.

Do we see a slight distrust toward Apple ?
Too many bugs instead of fixing the old ones?
It’s not just “get woke, go broke,” it’s also “get woke, lose focus on your work and watch your products fail.” That seems to be what has happened. Can the Jobsian work ethic take back control from the wokesters inside the company who believe that the purpose of Apple is social activism, not putting out insanely great products? Probably not in this climate. And, among the loyal customers, the trust factor is evaporating. Makes me weep.

From someone who posted here on MR, a quote I don’t know where it comes from, just to look strictly at the pragmatic sense of things, that person said (paraphrasing): someone saying to not care about privacy because he got nothing to hide is like saying he doesn’t care about free speech because he got nothing to say.

Also, there’s an epidemic of false allegations, lives shattered, decades long imprisonment AND THEN the person is found innocent, in some cases taking over a year to bring that person out of jail even after the innocence reversal. Talking about guilty until found innocent. Something to be aware of.

I’m not saying it’s a completely bad idea, actually it makes me skeptic all the default angst towards CSAM, as if maybe if implemented it will bring out a lot of dirt… but I got no doubt it will also be used against you and me if it happens to be convenient. So, there better be another way.

But anyways, what do I know.

Couple of points to keep in mind on this:
1. This does nothing to clean the iCloud and there are other ways to load photos (web).
2. This has been looked at for a number of years. There is a reason no other device maker has tried to implement this; privacy risk.

Hopefully we won’t see it in a future release.
