An extremely early call, and totally anecdotal, but my 14 Pro seems to be draining battery at a slower rate on 16.0.3. This is with what I would call "typical use" today. (It's late afternoon in my time zone).

I upgraded from a 13 Pro, whose battery life I loved. Given that the (non-Max) 14 Pro has a slightly larger-capacity battery than the 13 Pro, I'm hopeful after initial disappointment.

I think it's easy to assume that all iOS builds are pretty much the same for all models. In fact, of course, the builds need to include specific drivers for different screens, camera units, etc etc. I don't think we should have to wait a month or two for expected battery performance, but at least things appear to be going in the right direction.

iOS 16 was the buggiest iOS I've used so far, I'm not crying to switch to Android any time soon but I really think they need to like chill and slow down. I'm only on the 16 because it came with my new phone, had I not upgraded I would definitely not upgrade, I don't even know what's supposed to be new other than the much more complicated and not very useful Lock Screen.

Maybe just like go back to how it was before, big change every other year, for hardware and software. While you could say yes you can choose not to upgrade, but I didn't have a choice because it came on the new phone. Where as if they just took more time with the big updates, maybe the phone wouldn't be so buggy on launch?

I mean can't make calls during CarPlay are you serious? This is what the iPhone has come to? I get the iPhone for reliability and I couldn't even make my call the other day because the other end couldn't hear me. Other than that I can't even count how many times NATIVE apps have crashed on me. The maps on CarPlay crashes all the time as soon as I touch the phone, and it won't even connect properly half the time. And Airdrop, my god has it been a dumpster fire, before it worked like 90% of the time where the 10% was still annoying because it's a blackbox with no buttons or settings. Now it only works like 20% of the time, the other 80% it's just "waiting" forever, no diagnostics, no buttons to flip, so bad...
I guess you weren't around for iOS 7. YMMV, but I'm not finding iOS 16 particularly buggier than most versions.

The weather widget localization is now always ON all the time on all my devices draining battery...

Wow this is a chonky boi. I agree that they really should slow down the pace of updates... 16 is a bit of a trainwreck. You should not be releasing a gig+ delta update a few weeks after initial release.

Siri on CarPlay has gotten worse. It only recognises and plays music saved in my AM library now. Anything else it’ll just do a ‘best guess’ or won’t recognise/play it at all

I did make the jump back to regular iOS from the beta and I've been on iOS 16.0.3 now since around 6PM CST -- so far, I don't want to jinx it - but I have noticed my phone use Wi-Fi Calling a lot more than it was before and I have not seen the cellular drop completely like it was doing before on 16.1 beta (maybe have seen it drop once or twice OVERALL, granted I had to restore to 16.0.2 before updating to 16.0.3).

Overall I'd say this is a good sign so far but I'll continue to keep an eye on it.

There is difference. The ”Other“ Storage will increase dramatically when you do OTA. I think a lot of people don’t know that. OTA updates uses Other Storage to temporary backup your important settings and create temp file. iOS should have purge those temp files after update, but most of the time, it does not and it just accumulates. The bigger your number of files, the higher the Other storage accumulation.

when you do full iOS update, the backup goes to your mac. the temp files are created in your mac and not in the iOS memory. It decompresses the ios file in your macbook then transfer it to your ios partition. So the Other Storage will not dramatically increase.

it’s one of the reason i prefer doing full ios update. Also, i had bad experience updating my ipad pro 1Tb with OTA. so never doing OTA again if full update is available.
I’d have to disagree with your observation there.
The only time I had the storage issue was when everyone else was having one during iOS 15 I believe. OTAs have been just fine and my storage fluctuate around 11 GB for System Data.

Oh I remember those days. Couldn’t wait to get out of there after their so called “biggest redesign” was also their buggiest release. Wasn’t that great during the public release either.

Better wait until 16.5 at least. For now, downgrade to 15.7 while it still possible. Apple likely will disable 15.7 shortly given the new version has been released.

I came back from Android last night and bought an Iphone and It's taking me a while to get used to notifications being at the bottom of the screen. I keep thinking I'm doing something wrong with them because I'm so used to swiping down. I'm not sure why Apple decided to to it this way but does anyone have any advice on how to get used to the new format?

Well you can always change back to the old behaviour in the settings

How do I do that. I don't see an option in the Notification section. I just see Notification display as either Count, Stack, or List
You can't change it back to the same "old" way in iOS 15. Best you can do is choose the 'List' option. Notifications still show from the bottom.

What sorta numbers ?

I’m afraid of updating from 16.0.2 lol

Maybe it’s too early to tell but this is what I’m seeing currently. Updated to 16.0.3 yesterday afternoon. I’d be curious to hear others’ experiences since updating to 16.0.3.

Which iPhone do you have? And if iPhone 14 Pro, do you have AOD turned on?
