So I guess they managed to increase the screen size or shrink the notch on existing models? I prefer they shrink the notch. Can't wait to update my XR to find out!! That's the Apple magic we all rave about!
I hope they didn’t increase the screen size on the mini.

This is a really terribly implemented "feature," as the battery pictogram with the percentage readout appears to show a completely full battery even when it is not. If someone quickly glances at their phone, they might think the battery is fully charged. Back to the drawing board, Apple! Maybe just include a percentage readout only with no battery graphic when this option is enabled.

Yeah, that's why they originally gave it to the iPhone SE 2 and SE 3, 6, 6S, 7, 8, X, XS, 11 Pro and 12 Pro. The plot was to pressure only the tiny number of XR and mini owners to upgrade, and only until the 14 was released. Diabolical!

I swear you conspiracy theorists don't even try anymore.
First off, Half the phones you mentioned are not even supported for ios 16. So how are they supposed to get a feature when they don't even get the os?

Full list of iOS 16 supported devices.

"The plot was to pressure only the time number of XR and mini owners to upgrade." Did you forget that we're talking about the iPhone? That tiny number you refer to equates to millions of phones. So yeah I believe it's not above Apple to take a feature away to pressure millions of people to upgrade to a more expensive phone. They're in it to make money. It's the Apple way.

The site just said “iPhone 8 and earlier” so I just listed some. But the point still stands. Your theory makes absolutely no sense—anyone hanging on to an iPhone 8 at this point isn’t going to be convinced to upgrade because of a freaking number in the status bar.

But enjoy your tinfoil hat.

I'm on an iphone 11 Pro and I have the battery % in my status bar in iOS 16, not 16.1
I'm in the same situation! The article confused me when I first read it, so I checked under battery options, and the battery percentage option was there. I enbaled it, and now I have the numbers (percentage) in the battery indicator.

I have never installed a beta version on my phone(s).
