The issue is the Facebook app. It’s a memory hog and a battery hog and always has been. I know some want it but don’t blame iOS for Facebook’s inability to build a responsible app.
i did not say that its an iOS issue, but i DID NOT have it until iOS16!

i don’t know that the decision to port this to the older iPads is necessarily the reason for pulling the external display support.
Perhaps not. But I’m just going by the wording….
In response, our teams have worked hard to find a way to deliver a single-screen version for these systems, with support for up to four live apps on the iPad screen at once.

The amount of resources that went into making Stage Manager compatible with 2018/2020 could of impacted refining it for external display support.

Have you tried reinstalling the iOS with IPSW file?

Not had any flickering ever. Have always installed with IPSW files though. That’s why I asked if you’ve done a reinstall, as that process can really clear up a lot of glitches/bugs.
Yep. I'm religious about using the IPSW to update. I really don't why this would be happening but I hope they push out a fix soon! Glad to be back on iOS 15 for the time being though.

And that effort just extended the useful lives of millions upon millions of older iPad users. I suspect the number of people who would use the iPad with an external monitor would be minuscule in comparison. So for Apple that was probably a fair exchange.

And I’m sure external monitor support will return.

I understand that external monitor support will return, Apple already acknowledged this… yet they haven’t provided any details on when it will return. And unfortunately… I’m not going to update to the latest beta lol.

I agree with your point. The point I was making is… this decision impacted external display support, that’s all.

On re-reading, I think you’re right. My bad!

I’m still going to upgrade my 2018. 64GB’s doesn’t cut it anymore. But adding Stage manager doesn’t appear to be impacting performance (I’m typing this with 3 visible windows open and this one semi-minimized).
Lucky you, for me it’s respiring manager.
It’s definitely an iOS beta issue, this was from the developer of Widgetsmith. Clearly still present in the latest beta.

expect things to break, while they make new things. Usually resolved by release.

The upgrade method isn’t the trick, you may want to re-install it via IPSW.

Fantastical Certainly hasn’t for me on my 12 Pro Max. Just constantly No Events shown on Lock Screen even when I most definitely have events & tasks.

Fantastical Lock Screen widgets have not worked for me since iOS 16.1 Beta 1 On my 12 Pro Max. Regardless of how many events or tasks I have for that day my Lock Screen widget just says No Events.
Are you sure you have it setup Right. Works Perfect here

Carplay issue seems solved on 14pm
Forgive my stupid question, but what is this CarPlay issue? 2017 Mazda 3 with the OEM CarPlay retrofit USB hub + software update. This hasn’t been exclusive to the 14 Pro, but it has happened with the 13 Pro / 12 mini / SE 3 I’ve used in the past few months. Sometimes it’ll connect super fast, other times it won’t do anything until I unplug and replug the cable from the hub. I’ve tried many different cables, same issue.

14PM here, and this feels much smoother than the last beta. No more lag when swiping up to exit an app and the typing lag I was getting in Zalo seems to have gone as well.
That’s good to know would you say it’s smoother than the official 16.0.2?

I have not checked yet but I thought they fixed that issue in 16.0.2. Were you still having the issue in 16.0.2? I heard that only Insta had that issue after installing 16.0.2
Haven’t tried 16.0.2 since I’ve been on the 16.1 betas but some were saying beta 2 did not have the fix.

As I noted above, Fantastical has the following statement in its settings

So it appears that if you don’t add your calendar accounts directly to Fantastical (rather than via iCloud) the widgets may not update.

Unfortunately, even though I updated to the latest beta on my iPad Pro 2020, I’m still not seeing the option for Stage Manager anywhere. Anyone else having this issue?

I was unable to press the flashlight and camera buttons on the Lock Screen after initial install. When I long pressed on them, it brought up the lockscreen editor as if the buttons weren’t there and I was long pressing on a blank area. A hard reset resolved the issue.
