Just had time to install beta 4 and upon finishing my iPhone 14 Pro greeted me with a white "Swipe up to recover" screen. Since then it's trying to "restore data".

I have never seen this one before and this also is the first time since my first iPhone OS 3.0 beta that I had an issue during an update. Hopefully it goes through without needing a full restore.

Edit: Restoring data seems to have worked.

I have experienced it a few times, when I upgraded without entering the passcode, not sure if it's something about encrypted data etc.

I've seen it when I updated via DFU or with Apple Configurator 2

My experience FWIW: A bit buggy for a beta4 of a point release.

Sometimes touching an "x" to x out of a window doesn't work, nonresponsive. Sometimes Apple Music doesn't work well when sending sound to a bluetooth speaker or headphone (but works perfectly reliably with my AirPods 3).

I'm not getting the frequent Safari re-loads that @Cu5co mentioned, but when I open safari, go to to the tab manager, and choose a tab with a website I previously opened, the website reloads. Maybe that's normal behavior, but thought I'd just mention it.

Battery life is good with beta4 on my 14PM, usually, getting an estimated 10 to 15 hours of screen-on time between charges. I would prefer 15 hours consistently of course, but it's a beta, so I'm keeping expectations modest.

Sometimes it seems a little odd and frustrating to me that a major new iOS release always comes out when new iPhone models come out. The new .0 version usually has more bugs and worse battery life which are gradually improved over the following months. This means that folks who buy the new phones close to their release date don't get to enjoy the full potential of their devices for a month or maybe a few months.

Just a short update

13 ProMax - OTA
Biggest issue is speed; apps load slow and some run slow
Next issue is call data. On AT&T and while 5G is the stronger signal in my area, I can literally watch it drop to LTE when I start any data activity on cell. No issue with wifi.
Other annoying bugs but nothing that stops me from using the device.

iPad Pro 11 2020
Started OTA then did an ipsw to address screen freezing in app. Since the Pear Maneuver I have not had any screen freezing (knock on wood).
RAM Management is flakey at best - seeing a good number of complete app reloads when launching from app manager.
Other annoying bugs but nothing that stops me from using the device.

Looking forward to the next beta.

Eufy cam app no longer randomly restarts iPhone 14PM. 👍🏼

Still get the slight jitter when videoing in 4k@30 as can be seen around the 7m 57s marker on this video. Guy walking down the stairs.

Is anyone else having issues with Microsoft Teams? Not entirely sure if it's linked to iOS 16.1, my new iPhone 14 Pro Max or what is going on here. My switch to iPhone 14 Pro Max and iOS 16.1 happened when I had some days off work so I was already on iOS 16.1 by the time I was joining my first meeting on Microsoft Teams after switching to my new phone. Everyone is complaining about my microphone quality ever since I got my iPhone 14 Pro. I've tested using two different Apple AirPods Max, two different Apple AirPods 3, two different Apple AirPods Pro and two different Apple AirPods Pro 2. Sadly I have no easy access to any wired headphones I could be used for testing, I have a Lightning to 3.5mm jack adapter, but I have no headphones at hand that will support the use of a microphone via the adapter, only audio.

But I think it's safe to say that there is nothing wrong with any of the AirPods I'm using for testing, or Bluetooth on the iPhone 14 Pro Max because when I use call-in via phone (not the app), or use other apps like Zoom the microphone quality is what it used to before switching phones. Seems strange for this to be isolated to running Microsoft Teams on iOS 16.1 as other apps don't suffer the same issues, but before testing a rollback to iOS 16 I was just wondering if anyone else running Microsoft Teams on iOS 16.1 is facing the same issues? I've tried simple things like rebooting the phone, re-installing the app etc without any luck.

If this is somehow a issue with the latest version of Microsoft Teams on iOS I would have expected to see many more complaints about the issue.

I was probably a little bit too harsh in my response to @Mrwhite here last week regarding his request for assistance after installing the beta to see if it fixed an issue he was experiencing. I do apologize for that.

My reason for taking the stand I did is that people with no experience with the beta process jump on betas to get unreleased features (even for seemingly good reasons), run into problems and then post here looking for help. The thread then gets distracted for sometimes 10 or more posts as others try to help the person. That is not really what these beta threads were intended for.

Would it make sense to start a “judgment-free help” sticky thread for issues like this? Then people needing help (as opposed to posting about the current beta) could post there and anyone who wanted to assist could do so?

Thoughts?

Running Teams on b4 on a 13 ProMax.
Having occasional issues where sound and microphone fade in/out using AirPods Pro. Having the same issue with the phone speaker and mic. I suspect it is a beta / app issue as on b3 it was fine.

Is the apple logo flickering on boot fixed for iPhone 14 Pro?

I just powered down and booted up my 14PM running beta 4. No flickering here.

I don't recall flicking on the previous beta, though.

The solution that worked for me was to change the “Mic Mode” to Standard instead of Voice Isolation. This was with my AirPods 3 and 14 Pro Max. There was no issue on 13 Pro Max.

Nice. You may wish to add some words such as these to your Help thread.

Thanks for the feedback. I will give this a go in my next meeting.

The only MS Teams issue I had was that when I was done with a call and hung up, when I got into my Ram and used wireless CarPlay it said the microphone was still being used by Teams. I had to close it out completely.

Verizon on 14 Pro - I'm having pretty consistent dropped calls and cell signal completely dropping out for a few minutes. I often have to restart the phone to send an SMS text message or access any data.
Same my 14pm on Verizon keeps dropping all bars randomly on this beta, super annoying. And wifi calling doesn’t always take over so the call drops.
