We'll see how clear this particular move is. It's not like they're going to take some huge financial hit even if it's clearly a bad idea.
I mean every report so far has been about the Pro doing extremely well while the 14 isn't so it sure seems like that is a factor in why.

Give it neon and stars around and this glow from 90’ gifs of ponies…

Absolutely discussing idea of implementing this like that

Yeah exactly. The Pro is kind of lackluster as a Pro but the regular iPhone looks even worse in comparison. This is the ultimate upsell gambit on Apple's part and I hope they learn their lesson. But I'm afraid they are going to learn the wrong lesson.

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. Maybe the "regular" iPhone is supposed to be the "budget" iPhone and the "Pro" is the "real" iPhone.

But if that's how they see it I disagree for several reasons.

If it's working, why would they change it? They want the Pro to do better cause it makes them more money.

I kept adding edits to that post but yeah sadly that's the conclusion I think they will come to. They will learn what I think is the wrong lesson and further fragment the lineup.

Looks like it only does this while the phone is locked. It disappears for me after Face ID unlocks my phone.

It only has border when there is something active, if nothings active it stays solid black so that’s something… I hate the borders… the music border doesn’t even change to match artwork lol just stays grey.

As other have mentioned, before we get the pitchforks out...

The outline only appears when something is active in the Island, otherwise there is no gray outline at all. The outline is likely there to better highlight which area can be touched.

I like that there is something surrounding it as long as it is being used. Makes it extra easy to tell if something is currently happening on your phone. If it was there constantly, then I wouldn’t like it.

Doesn't really bother me. Seems quite subtle and only when on AOD. I can see them removing it though if the feedback is overwhelmingly negative.

This is terrible, I use a black background specifically to make it blend in
But it only shows when on AOD, and it's not very noticeable for me. Doesn't show up in any other circumstance.

I said it already but Dynamic Island is the worst gimmick I've ever seen. I've been using the new iPhone for a week and I realized that I don't look at the notch at all. It's the worst place to put glorified notifications on.

This doesn't affect me, as I don't have a phone with DI, but the move confuses me. Apple must know that some people are using dark/black wallpapers because they find the DI distracting or annoying. So I hope it's a feature that can be turned off.

You know what’s absolutely hilarious about this; aside from the fact that the island is one of the most distracting and unintelligent designs Apple has ever done?

The fact that the Island has that gray ring around it like that, makes you instinctively go for it in certain apps with black backgrounds that have similar search bars, like on Reddit I’ve almost tapped the island to search like a dozen times.

Instead of a grey line it woulda been cool to see some shadow effect to make it pop a bit to highlight it, a bit of modern skeuomorphism lol
