Not happening to my iPhone 14. Could it be a manufacturing defect in certain models or just a software bug?

Dear all,

I've had the same issue of connectivity stability on Wifi, that most of you probably encountered when you updated to IOS 16.1.

I've done everything possible to see if it will resolve the stability issue, nothing seemed to help. Just to name some, i tried, changing routers, changing wifi networks, trying other iPhones, resetting network setting and finally wiping out my iPhone and starting from scratch, nothing worked.

The fix is quite simple but it's hidden deep within the iPhone settings, i'd be happy to share if people are still encountering the issue.

Please do share.

i've posted the fix to Apple, via their bugs feedback form, hopefully they'll fix it within their next IOS update.

The fix is simple, on your iPhone settings, navigate to Location Services -> System Services and then tun off the Networking & Wireless Switch to OFF, that's it!!

I'd appreciate a reply back, from anyone that i might've made their day :)

Unfortunately Your solution is not working on my iPhone 13 (model number: MLQ73HU/A).

when you switch off the main switch for location services, do you notice the wifi disconnects and reconnects the moment you toggle the switch ?

switch the main location services to off and then on, see if interferes with the wifi connection upon switching to on or off

I noticed the same thing yesterday, I even made a thread about it :)

Have you tried disabling Wi-Fi Assist in Cellular settings (toward the bottom of the page)?

Doesn’t work for me

Right??? And remember when "fragmentation" wasn't a thing in the Apple universe?

Have we seen the iPad lineup lately? lol
This is because of end stage laissez-faire capitalism and the pathology of Wall Street. I didn’t like Steve Jobs as a person, but he largely seemed to protect Apple from that crap… and then he was no more. “Leadership” in the world of corporations is a cult of greed; it has no room for serving customers well or caring about quality.

Every piece of software released to the public is, at best, beta quality anymore. The computer industry is a disaster and almost everyone keeps behaving like “this is fine”.

My day job is in tech support for some XYZ enterprise product thing. "This is fine" is an oft-used phrase by my crew when coping with the hell that our employer's product creates for the end-users and therefore us. Coupled with this giphy of course

There's not enough accountability. When the product is trashy it needs to be called out in the faces of the ppl who made it, and it needs to be done so in force and in numbers. The product I work with is quite a bit technical in nature (it's not free) and so are its users, and they will often raise holy-hell when things don't work as well they should. The average Apple user though? Definitely not. I suspect there are many many more "average" users than there are technical ones, leading to issues not being reported or not being reported nearly as loudly as they should. ¯\(ツ)/¯ Also the Apple OS softwares are free updates so it becomes more acceptable for the end-user to deal with the bugs because "at least they didn't pay for it". At least not directly. (iPhones aren't exactly cheap.). Maybe things would be better if Apple charged for updates. I don't know.

The apologists will say things likes "Well... at least <my fave brand> isn't as trashy as <insert anyone else>". It's tiring and dismissive. We'd all be better served if apologists would recognize objective faults and raise them.

For those not in the know about it, Apple has a great feedback facility for all of their wares. You don't need to be a beta tester or a dev. If you think you found a bug or have some general feedback about some Apple thing, report it:

Same here, no wifi, connects but no data, utter trash, Apple just gets worse and worse, does this company even care about trying to keep a reputation ? The sooner the moneygrubber in charge is gone and we get someone who cares about quality the better.

I wasn’t having many issues until I got my first iPad two days ago. The iPad shows it’s connected to wifi but it goes nowhere and says no connection. What a load of trash these work from home programmers are now.
