I have the app, how do I get live activities to show up on the home screen?
The only app that's been officially released in the App Store is the Sports Alerts app. For devices without DI, you can only add a widget with live scores onto your home screen. The live activities on the Lock Screen is the same for all devices running 16.1.

For some reason I cannot display any game on the DI with Sport Alerts today (Im on 16.1 RC)
FotMob on the other hand works perfectly but only for football…

Hopefully SportAlerts will work again soon

I was having the same issue, then realized they don't do it for college sports, soccer or sports not in the following leagues yet. Only live activities for MLB, NFL, NBA & NHL at the moment.

Working for me. Did you select the game in the app that you want to turn on live activities for? It doesn't seem to do it automatically for your followed teams.

Also, it looks like you can only turn on live activities for teams that have a game on the same day and not turn on games for future day. Not sure if this is an iOS API restriction or just the way Scores Alerts implemented it.

This is correct indeed!
Just checked after installing the app again.
But as mentioned above it is limited to a few sports for now and certain games too.
But this feature will be improved for sure, this is a great start!

Sports Alert is working for me, too

The instructions on how to invoke it for each game/match and the limitations on which leagues are available are right on their app page in the App Store. Lots of licensing involved.

Now that the RC has been out for a few days, how is the battery life for you 14 PM users? I’m having pretty good battery life overall on 16.0.3 but I noticed it has been draining a bit more than 16.0.2. My phone has thankfully not had any of the issues that others are having with the 14 series. Hoping it stays that way 🤞🏽

Mine is ok. Not superlative but ok.

Damn. Let me ask you this: do you have the always-on display turned on on the 14 Pro?

I'm asking because I sleep with my 14 Pro on my nightstand and when I wake up the display is completely off (I have always-on turned on, but it eventually turns off if you haven't touched the phone in several hours) and light mode is active.

However, I'm wondering if dark mode doesn't trigger automatically because the always-on display never goes totally dark since I'm usually using my phone a ton around sunset. Maybe today I'll try keeping the phone in my pocket or face down for a few minutes before and after sunset. Thinking that maybe if the always on-display isn't active, dark mode will trigger properly.
I can now confirm that my theory does seem to have some credibility.

Phone was sitting next to me with the always-on display active. Sunset came and went and the phone remained in light mode. Then I flipped the phone over and had it sitting face down for ten seconds. Turned it back over and dark mode had been triggered.

So, at least in my case, the always-on display cannot be active in order to properly trigger light/dark mode.

Hope they fix that.

First time on the beta train with the 14PM and while I don’t have major complaints on the RC, I’m annoyed by the continuing glitch when closing apps. It seems like every year it’s the same for the first couple of .x versions and then gets fixed only to be introduced again with the next major iOS. Mind boggling and jarring.

Battery seems fine (still worse than 13PM this time last year) but I’m willing to chalk that up to the AOD which is a good trade off for me.

Live Activities worked flawlessly for the NBA in the Sports Alerts app.

I love sports alert and the live activities. Yes, its a battery hog but ill deal with that!

As a Red Sox fan, it pains me to say go Astros and would love to see a sweep tomorrow!

Yes I agree. I have this with the Messages app and although it’s a minor inconvenience it does make the app less of a good experience to use.

Especially since I’m noticing that the rest of the OS animations are so smooth and sharp.

Carrot, in its beta, has info about incoming precipitation. That’s pretty helpful. I’m sure he will come up with other types of alerts, etc..

Stuff no one has thought of will be the best stuff!
Carrot does indeed have live activity. Been using it in beta. I have fed back my thoughts to the developer. Considering Carrot’s Home Screen & Lock Screen widgets are so good , the Live Activity (currently) is a bit meh. I’m sure it’s working progress & will improve. I have fed back to developer. It is only for precipitation in the next hour. That’s good but for me the live activity is too large , or maybe it’s because there’s just no colour or detail to it. Very monochrome & far too much unused real estate in my opinion. A small umbrella & chart with the rain %. Knowing carrot as we do the developer will forever be working on it , which I think it needs. I’m also running betas for Fotmob & ScoreSpot (football scores) Now these are how they should luck. All the right information needed , the right design & colour where required. Fantastic efforts bey these developers.

Do you use the Sleep Focus? That disables AOD at night.

Remember that Carrot is still in beta. I suspect that the release version will have at least some of what you are looking for.
