Looks like an option to update to the Matter architecture has been added in the Home app

View attachment 2101883

Won’t let me update until the ‘Pods are on 16.2.
Has anyone updated all their Pods and TVs to 16.2 and updated to the new architecture?

Are non-beta devices still able to view and control devices in the Home or do all iOS devices really need to be updated to 16.2 in order to access a Home that has been upgraded to the Matter architecture?

I guess what I meant is when does the annoying “please update iOS beta” thing come up every time after unlock? When profile is still installed and a new build is communicated as out?

On the pursuit for the best battery life so gonna uninstall profile post b1 for now and just tread more carefully between betas (though will probably submit and dive head first on some for fun, anyways)

So you are seeing considerable more battery life in this first beta of 16.2?

Shortcuts seems to cause some battery drainage in the background. Hopefully will be gone the next update.
I feel like I’ve noticed this recently…for a short time there I had them all deleted and battery life seemed better. Ironically the shortcuts I do have are supposed to help with battery life 😅

Hi all, just thought to share for anyone who feels like iOS 16.1 or 16.2 beta 1 is still quite buggy and still winding up with issues, and wants to revert back to the good old stable build of iOS 15. I found a loop hole that works for the time being. Download the iOS 15.7 IPSW (NOT 15.7.1 or you will get an error) for your respected device. Restore via iTunes or finder by pressing shift and selecting the ipsw file for 15.7, it will proceed to restore your device back to 15.7. Once complete, simply update to iOS 15.7.1 over the air and you are all set! This loop hole will most likely only be open another week or 2, once Apple stops signing iOS 15.7 it will no longer be possible to downgrade. Cheers

Was just playing around with Privacy > Location Services > System Services and thought, “Why not just turn everything on (except for Analytics)?” I know a lot of people here leave them enabled without issue. Except I noticed with some further A/B testing that my phone’s cellular connection crawled to a halt with Networking & Wireless enabled.

I find this setting rather intriguing and Apple does its best to keep one from disabling it with the warning pop-up regarding wireless performance and ultra-wideband, but I notice not a good deal of difference with it off (caveats being I do not own/use AirTags and if I need precision finding for second-gen AirPods Pro I can just re-enable it).

But the difference was readily apparent: Everything networking-wise is just far speedier with it disabled.

I went back to how I had things set before; if anyone’s curious see below (sorry everything’s in Spanish and in a different order as a result—“Conexiones inalámbricas” would be Networking & Wireless).

Everything under “Product Improvement” down below is of course disabled. I’d love to hear others’ thoughts on these settings as I do enjoy a fresh conversation around them from time to time. Heck, I might even make a thread about it, specifically regarding the enigmatic “Networking & Wireless.”

Nice catch! I’m sorry the beta didn’t work out, but it’s nice you found a way to downgrade to a more reliable version.

But what about the Apple Watch you had upgraded? Will it still work with 15.7(.1)?

Yeah similar pointless stuff you don’t need Apple to know about your location.

Which keeps using the GPS/battery.

Thanks! Yeah I gave 16.1 and 16.2 a shot and things still feel half baked and I heavily rely on my long battery life as I work outside all day, so I’m glad I caught the train back to 15.7 in time! I have a spare 8 Plus that I have running iOS 16.2 and have synced my Apple Watch to it for the time being. I will miss out on all notifications but I’m happy as long as it keeps syncing and keeps track of my health info plus iMessage works on it still since it’s a cellular model. Not ideal but I can live with that for a few months. Hoping Apple takes its time and irons out all these bugs and issues sooner rather than later 🤞🏼

Did 16.2 change anything in WiFi detection?

On my 13PM it sees 6 wifi signals.
On my iPad Pro 11 it sees 4 signals.
On my OnePlus 10 Pro it sees 26 signals.
On my ThinkPad X280 it sees 25 signals.
etc….

All but the iPhone and iPad see 20+
The ones they see are not even the strongest on the list.
I never really counted them before but noticed today the list on the iDevices was really short.
