Knowing people, they will surely screw this up and blame Apple.

"Advanced Data Protection is opt in because it means Apple can't restore your data if you lose your password, plus access to iCloud.com is disabled by default."

I'm still a little confused about this data protection thing. Is it necessary to activate or should I leave it alone. I know it's enhanced security, but the stuff about it being hard to recover things if I lose my password gives me some pause.

I know to Apple "cross-platform" means iPhone, iPad, and Mac. But in this context that is kind of confusing. Considering it's a collaboration app, one could reasonably think that it is *actually* cross-platform.

These days more than ever when everything is so clearly based on iOS (including the Mac), I don't think it's great to continue to let Apple call things "cross-platform" when they just mean their own platforms.

Exactly my thoughts.

I've nothing that can run Ventura, and don't want to ruin the fun :)

So, it's so: dipped everything in the Update pool.

On Monty 12.6.1 I can control all my iot with the Home app

After the update to 12.6.2, I can *still* control my iot.

iPad 9, HomePod and AplTV are updated to 16.2 (AW6 updated to 9.xcurrent), with the iPhone still pending...

Not a show-stopper for those of us who cannot update to Ventura.

[edit]

Of course, I missed a step: "Home Upgrade Available" . . . which will cause issues, I can only presume.

I retract (strike-through) my earlier statement :/

[edit #2]

After updating to the new Home soft, only the iPhone Mini, HomePod mini and the iPad9 can now access Home (maybe the applTV, but haven't tried).

I really only use the iPhone to control iot, so not really miffed.

I found that if you customize your Home Screen with photos, you can now show the photo in your photos app (you need to be in the edit mode). This will be great since I was thinking a bunch of photos used in the shuffle were not actually mine.

Trigg
Anyway to turn off news in the weather app? Very annoying and triggering, this is enough to get me to move to another weather app
Triggering? I believe all other weather apps will track you and serve you unrelated ads. If not, there will most likely be a monthly fee. I would find weather-related news articles pertaining to the area I’m looking at to be helpful.

So far working well ion my 14 PM. Appreciate they finally added the no wallpaper option to always on display. I like it much better, to the point I'll probably leave it on now

If you don’t know, yet, it might be best to wait for now. Learn a little more about this and the different options for it and how recovery works. Later you can enable it if you think the risk of being compromised is work the risk of data loss.

I am apparently missing something. The always on display turns off with or without wallpaper in all focus modes.

One new feature I noticed is that my 14 Pro now has charging issues! It keeps disconnecting/reconnecting. Saweeet! Ugh

POSSIBLY this could be because some element in your charging setup doesn't provide the full voltage required or promised.
Obviously I have no idea about your system but I had the experience where Ikea charging disks, when plugged into a "baseline" charger (max 5W) would appear to charge an iPhone wirelessly but it would randomly connect and disconnect. (I'm not sure, "legally", who was at fault, Ikea for accepting the connection to a 5W charger, or Apple for accepting whatever Ikea claimed it could support. Regardless, when I switched to plugging Ikea into an Anker 30W USB-C charger, the problem went away.)

It may be that your system was right on the edge and with the update Apple is now being more aggressive about either what sort of voltage/current it accepts, or testing what it is given and rejecting if the values aren't what was promised.

There was a previous thread that example showed up, which most us said we don’t like spoiling the weather app interface with marketing other Apple services. I have see any more examples for awhile. I hope that thought is banished from their marketing strategies.

Immediately after updating, I noticed my cellular service at the top of the screen changed from displaying Xfinity Mobile 5G to Xfinity Mobile 5G+. I assume this upgrade was included in the wireless carrier update that came with 16.2.
