I’m less optimistic.

From MR:

“iOS 17 may have "fewer major changes than originally planned" due to Apple's focus on the "xrOS" operating system for its AR/VR headset, according to Gurman. This could result in iOS 17 having more of a focus on bug fixes and stability improvements, but it's still early, so we haven't heard much about exact features yet.”

Let’s unpack:

Mark Gurman and MR are saying two different things. MG reports that Apple will divert resources from iOS 17 development to headset OS development, resulting in less new features.

MR’s speculation uses this logic: if Apple is putting fewer new features in ios 17, that will free up resources to focus on stability and bug fixes.

MR's logic is incorrect. The freed up resources are going to headset OS development, not iOS 17 stability.

That’s how I read it, anyways. I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see how taking developers away from iOS 17 results in iOS 17 being more stable.

Will iOS 17 be the new iOS 12 🤔🥳

Agreed. Even if (partially) in jest, I’m not sure there’s a better way of shooting oneself in the foot than by getting one’s hopes up for any “bug-free” OS, let alone for a bugless iOS—let’s be real.

Touching and holding on a notification to expand it does not work, regardless of whether it’s in the lockscreen or the notification shade.

Apps are becoming unresponsive. YouTube and Messages, so far.

YouTube only required the app to be force closed.

Messages required me to restart my phone.

For Notifications, 13 ProMax, I can get them to expand but only for ones linked to core Apple apps. Doesn't work for anything else.

Thankfully have not seen your other issues.

Same as the past couple beta and official releases, cannot connect to Apple apps, even after a dozen reboots.
same issue on 14 pro max

Seems it broke something with Wifi, as I cant even sign into the feedback app when on Wifi, (but no issues on data) resetting network settings dose not fix it either

Love me some Hook Burger.. a friend is the owner. (he also started Habit Burger)
Ha, yah, Hook Burger is supposed to be the "high end" version of the habit..

I submitted a bug report via the feedback app, it seems odd that it fails only on wifi and not cellular/data, and clearing the network settings via general did not fix it

Apparently, there won’t be any huge improvements or features in iOS 17… just a solid bug and performance release. The focus is on their AR headset.

So might not be that exciting in 5 months this time round, but imagine a bug free iOS.

We would all have such clean hands 😆😉
Can somebody please give me a reasonable explanation of what all the brouhaha is with this AR stuff. It strikes me that it is for a limited market and I just don't understand. Who will really around with those goofy goggles on😥 and yes I am the retired age group

I'm not retired yet (maybe another 15 years), and I am uninterested in this AR / VR stuff, so you aren't alone. And I love tech.

🤷‍♂️

just re-installed the IOS beta using the IPSW file, and still have the same issue....

Could this be an issue related to the 14 Pro max?

I can see the benefit for certain training venues as well as being popular among gamers, but that pretty much eliminates most people I know. Now if tomorrow we’re all strolling through the Oasis as in Ready Player One, and I can afford a full sensory set up I might pay attention. When that happens someone wake me if I’m not already dead.

I am in the retired age group at 68. Last May I manned an Arts Festival booth demonstrating this technology to explore a simple virtual environment. People from 12 to 72 (my estimate) loved the experience. Will they buy it? Probably not but if Meta has it then Apple must have it too so as to look relevant.

and doing a full on restore does not fix it.. pretty much a brick since nothing can be downloaded unless I kill my data plan....
