Wow! This update has broken a couple of things for me:

My All Junk mailbox has disappeared.

I can't see App Store in Settings / Notifications.

I was wondering why I couldnt see any badges for app updates, so I checked Notifications and no App Store option.

Looks like the Search Tab is not working on the App store.

App Store working as expected for me on RC2 including search with 13 mini. Now that I am on iOS 16, I am seeing a lot of issues people are having are only on 14 models with iOS 16, which is a little scary considering I am thinking of buying 3 of for my family when model 15 is released.

After updating to iOS 16.5 RC2 I was no longer able to connect over cellular. Over 2.5 hours on the phone with my carrier (Verizon) and nothing worked. They’re shipping me a new handset to resolve the issue. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 that works

Just encountered a very nasty and annoying bug. Don’t have any explanations for it. 😔😡

Tried to check the Weather and the Weather Widget is not letting me get into the weather App. As you can see, I tried pressing (tapping) the Weather Widget at least 10+ times… it’s not opening. It just highlights it and that's it.

Tried to open up Calender App, and Clock App.. they work just fine. This Weather App is lame. My poor fingers… I miss Dark Sky! 🤌

I’m not able to replicate this. Tapping on the weather widget opens the Weather app as expected for me.

Working fine here. IP14PM.
Perhaps a delete and reinstall of the offending widget may fix it?

16.1’s legit release was also a later build than the RC… I stayed on that RC for a very long time 😝

I’ll hopefully be installing 16.5 this Friday.

Got mad at my iPhone tonight, LOL. Turned my iPhone off for 30 minutes. Hopefully, all the stupid annoying bugs are fixed for me. Past midnight, today is a new day!

In addition, this is probably the worst battery life I have ever experienced on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. 🪫 8% battery life. 0-100% fully charged. iPhone is reporting 4 Hours and 19 Minutes of Usage. iPhone 14 Pro Max acting like iPhone Mini! September needs to get here already!

Something’s not right, I have been thinking a lot about it, and since battery life seems so hit and miss for people, I think maybe it’s because of backups.

Right now my phone is on a backup that was from my iPhone 11 Pro Max which was jailbroken, which was on a backup from my iPhone X, which was running a backup from my iPhone 7+, which was on a backup from my 6S+, which was on a backup from my 6+, etc etc.

We were always told back in the day that these old backups could cause problems, especially if there was any jailbreak data on there. I know on my phone I’ve found some weird stuff related to old jailbreaks in my contacts and elsewhere.

Everytime I’ve got a new phone, or restored a phone, and just played around with it for a bit before downloading my backup it was always hyper fast, smooth, bug-free, and the battery seemed to last forever. Once you load up that backup all that seems to always go away, we can only imagine how much old junk is on those old backups! But of course, nobody wants to start from scratch, and wipe their phone, and this may have nothing to do with it, but it has me wondering!

Non-iMessage texts (i.e. 'green' texts) are all failing to send for me after installing RC2. Have rebooted (both soft and hard) to no avail. May be a network issue (EE UK) and just a coincidence, of course...

Wow, that’s really bad. You’ve had really bad luck with your iPhone this year. I am really not a fan of iOS 16. I am practically praying Apple fixes battery life and stability in iOS 17.

OK, so looks like it was something to do with the second SIM card in my 14PM. Disabled that line and green texts now working again.

As you were...

To put my own 2¢ into this… I’ve been running the same chain of device to device backups since I got the original iPhone on launch day in 2007. Now we’re up to the 14 Pro Max, so… that’s more than a few device migrations. Most of those older devices were definitely jailbroken as well!

Won’t say my own experience with iOS is trouble free but I think that is just attributable to how buggy iOS has become for everyone these days, not really down to the way I’ve been handling things. The problems didn’t really start for me until iOS 16 came into the picture. So if backups and restores are the cause of so many troubles, I have to wonder where all those troubles were for me in OS versions 2 through 15. Even Apple themselves have admitted that iOS 16 was not up to the standard of previous iOS releases and that they need to put a greater emphasis on bug testing/stability with iOS 17.

Is anyone noticing Watch apps not updating after the iPhone app updates? I am seeing apps get iPhone updates and then they get ”stuck” installing to the watch.

I have been able to get around this by either installing the app update from the App Store on the Watch or actually tapping on the app on the watch kicks off the install.

In addition to the above, I've realised that I also am no longer getting email notifications in notification centre. I'm so tempted to wipe the phone and restart everything!

I've never had annoying glitches like these previously with beta updates

Re-install the iOS before doing a restore, takes about 15 mins. You might find that fixes things. Has for me in the past plenty of times.

Don't get me started on the Weather app. They bought Dark Sky, an app I'd used almost since I first got an iPhone (4S), destroyed it, took it off the market, and replaced both the old Weather App and Dark Sky with this half baked, barely functioning abomination. I've been using the Weather Channel app, which is ok I guess, but I really just want the old Dark Sky back.

So wipe the phone clean and start from fresh and then restore from backup? If so, I done this but no luck.

I might just bite the bullet and start from fresh again 😩
