So wipe the phone clean and start from fresh and then restore from backup? If so, I done this but no luck.

I might just bite the bullet and start from fresh again 😩
I think he meant reinstall through itunes then restore backup

Holy F***, I think they fixed the alarm lock screen widget for sleep alarms.
Woke up this morning and the widget updated to my next sleep schedule wake time, tomorrow AM instead of showing off. Let's see what happens tomorrow.

Nope. Use a Mac, download the IPSW file of the beta or official release you are on, hold down alt key, when clicking the check for update button, this will then let you select the IPSW file.

All this does is reinstall the iOS. Doesn’t touch your data. Obvs do a back anyway just to be on the safe side.

Genuinely very happy for you. Glad we can put that one to rest. Phew 👍🏼

Just to be super clear… If we install the IPSW for the RC is it absolutely 100% identical to what it would be like when installing the final release (assuming the final release is the same build) or does it still include beta style stuff like telemetry/logging/etc

Pleased it's working for you though.

Where can I find the latest iOS 16 IPSW? I’m guessing I’ll need to download it onto my Mac first and then go to iTunes! press the shift key! click restore and find the IPSW?

Got mad at my iPhone tonight, LOL. Turned my iPhone off for 30 minutes. Hopefully, all the stupid annoying bugs are fixed for me. Past midnight, today is a new day!

In addition, this is probably the worst battery life I have ever experienced on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. 🪫 8% battery life. 0-100% fully charged. iPhone is reporting 4 Hours and 19 Minutes of Usage. iPhone 14 Pro Max acting like iPhone Mini! September needs to get here already!

You really need to try a re-install at the very least. The whole shift/update (or whatever Mac version is) and browse to the IPSW file. Worst case get a backup and restore then restore the backup. Even though that is a lot longer process probably worth it with all the issues you are now having.

Its the same. As you stated as long as its an RC then its the same as a general release.

Have to say that the cellular connectivity seems off in this build. Phone call today got so low could not hear. Tryed several times. A reboot seems to have fixed it for now. Also data would just stop and a toggle of airplane mode was required to get things back. No carrier or modem firmware changes in this build (or for a while now) so who knows what the deal is. Not really digging this build so far.

Great idea but the issue is the whole indexing will take a minimum of 2 weeks. Now, the iPhone data has grown even more it might take longer. I was going to wait until September when the new iPhone 15 Pro Max comes out. Ugh!!!

Is it better to do a complete wipe to factory reset and then start from scratch, or go down the ipsw route?

Buddy if you’re using iTunes on a Mac, your operating system must be old.

Also if you’re not familiar with how phones sync on a Mac these days using finder, this is all well out of your depth I’m afraid.

Just go down the safe route and do a restore. Which I think you’ve already done . But anyways, do an encrypted Backup first to your Mac. Then restore. 👍🏼

Post 56. you even liked it. I’ve told you how to do it. Why this talk of the shift key, and now using iTunes… 🤯

🤣 sorry, I'm using old skool terminology. I know how these sync so should be OK with either process. But which of the 2 is better and will give me the perfect OS?

If your running into few issues I always start with reinstalling the iOS. It’s quick. Easy. And 90% of the time the reinstalling process helps sort any glitches. Your data doesn’t get touched which is a bonus. (don’t forget to always back up)

If that doesn’t do the trick, then I go for a full encrypted back up to Mac, and a restore. Never had issues after that. But if I have, then you’ve probably found or got a bug that you’ll need to keep updated on here to possibly as and when we see a fix.

I can’t say which will give the perfect ios because they both reinstall it. Nor can I say which one will work better for your situation until you try one.

But, a restore will wipe your phone and the iOS and apps are all reinstalled which works wonders if you’ve got the time.

You’re going to reward Apple for all of your software woes by giving them >$1,000 in September?
