Battery life is still pretty great for me on RC 2 like it was on RC 1, thankfully. It’s not the best battery life I’ve ever had or as good as I’ve seen some people have, but it’s much better than the very large majority of battery life that I’ve had on iOS 16. It’s just sad that it took 8 months (or 11 months if you consider June to be the start of iOS 16) to get it to be this stable.

I’m excited for iOS 17, but I’ll be super hesitant to upgrade right away after dealing with poor battery life and other bugs for this long. Battery life is one of the most important features to me.

Battery life is trash! Got whopping 5 Hours & 3 Minutes in today. That's on an iPhone 14 Pro Max. 0-100%. Right now I have about 5% left. Beyond embarrassing! 🪫

I had this on an iPhone 14 Pro, wiped and installed from IPSW and it resolved the issue.

I did manually re-install everything from scratch.

I’m sad to see the battery woes spreading.

On that note, strangely, I started getting incredible battery life on my 2020 android phone for no apparent reason. Usually it would die by the end of the day, however I noticed sometime on Monday that it was on and I had forgot to charge it overnight as I normally do, it ended up going 2 days on one charge. If only I could apply that to my iPhones.

IIRC, I saw something about this online, something to do with a Google API being changed which meant phone don’t try to connect as frequently so battery life has improved for some handsets.

(Don’t quote me though)

The update went smoothly on my iPhone. The "old" Pride wallpaper now appears two times in the lock screen configurator. Always new little bugs Apple implements to keep us entertained. :p

I plugged my iPhone to my Mac, Finder says there is an update but release notes show 16.4.1 notes instead of 16.5. Strange.

Have to say that the cellular connectivity seems off in this build. Phone call today got so low could not hear. Tried several times. A reboot seems to have fixed it for now. Also data would just stop and a toggle of airplane mode was required to get things back. No carrier or modem firmware changes in this build (or for a while now) so who knows what the deal is. Not really digging this build so far.
So turns out my issue, at least with connectivity, seems to have been with the Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 DNS /VPN app. After the previous reboot and a reinstall and no change I decided to turn that off for cellular and BAM everything has been working fine and fast since. Not sure how or if that caused my call issues or not but so far no more of those issues either. So 16.5 is off the hook for blame for now. :) Perhaps a 1.1.1.1 app update is in order. (or they were just having some issues for a few days)

This RC 2 is rock solid in terms of battery performance on my 13 Pro.
I doubt i will upgrade to a new build for now if it gets released today.
So I have had iOS 16 (16.5 current) on my 13 Mini for a week now. I can also say battery life is the same, if not better than iOS 15. I am glad I waited 8 months to upgrade to iOS 16.

I hope the 14 model owners see this battery benefit before September. Also because the plan is to buy 3 of them for my family, which will be a welcomed upgrade from their XRs. Or at least that’s what they tell me. 😀

Well, tried this several times this afternoon but no luck. I'm still missing the All Junk mailbox and also the App Store in notifications. I can though now see new emails in notification centre.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and restore as a new device and start from scratch 😩 Should I do this OTA or via Finder? Which method is more likelynto deliver a better result? Or does it make no difference at all?
Well, in the end I did a full restore via Finder and went through the painful process of going through all the settings and reinstalling all the apps, and then all the passwords that go with them.

I can now see the App Store in the notifications setting, but I can't see the red badge that shows there are apps waiting to be updated. And like many of you, I still cannot see the All Junk mailbox.

But I'm going to have to leave the OCD to one side now and just live with it 😁

Oh and thank you all for all the help on this 👍

You wont see red badges on the App Store, unless automatic downloads in settings under App Store is turned off.

I have switched off Automatic updates and auto download apps purchased on other devices. But still no badges

Auto download in-app content is on.

Seriously in love with the new Pride Wallpaper. IOS 16.5! The whole transitions is so smooth and lively.

Do you guys like it?

Like it but I’d prefer that the the white/light bit to skips past the top of the screen so you can see the info clearly.
