iPhone running hot! 🥵 🥵

View attachment 2204546
And was it hot, or again just iOS thought that it is hot? If so, there must be something wrong with the unit you got. So many repeating issues. Try to re-install it from the scratch like guys suggested before, or maybe try to stay couple weeks on a public build to see if it helped.

Update:
OK, finished reading the thread and I now understand why the phone was on fire :)

Strange how the heat affects others and not even some. No heat what so ever here.

I do quit all apps and hard restart my phone before updating.
I always do the same (except just a normal slide reboot) and do OTA typically and I believe thats what helps. Especially when doing OTA updating. It just makes since to close things before trying to update them.

Recently, I’ve be doing OTAs. Shock right. But, things have gone very smoothly, no heat and I feel my confidence is back into this process again.

Now, given everything Craig wrote in his emails to us, there wasn’t any room for change, but I like to think we alerted him to a better way maybe of doing things or refining the reliability of the process. Who knows. And really who cares, just nice to have that confidence back again in OTAs.

I’am still in the IPSW camp but seeing that OTA as been work well for others I may try on the next beta but for now 16.6 has been great on my 14PM for the last 18 hours no issues so far ,seems a little quicker animations then 16.5 but maybe its just me

Public Service Announcement: Regardless of how you and others update during "normal" betas, I think it's a good idea to do an IPSW install for the first build of iOS 17 in 2 weeks.

Between the number of times you’ve had this happen and your photo issues (not to mention your other issues) I’d say you have a hardware problem.
Agreed! I’m starting to believe my iPhone is faulty too. It’s a hardware issue! Not sure if I should ask Apple for an express replacement via Apple Care +. I just don’t want to freshly re-install the iOS because the whole process will take 1-2 weeks.

Also, it’s going to eat so much Wi-Fi data and I don’t have an unlimited Data plan. Another reason for Cox to charge $10 to the bill. Just going to wait till September and order 2 brand-new iPhone 15 Pro Max. One as a backup and one as a main. 😵‍💫

Go to Starbucks and use their Wi-Fi. 😁 of course if you update with MacBook..😂

And stay there for 2 weeks straight 😵. Las Vegas is open 24/7 but we do have closing hours here 😂.

It really takes 2-3 weeks for everything to be completed. I’m not even exaggerating.

🚨 ABSOLUTELY 100% this!!! 🚨

➡️ And Archive that encrypted back up from an official build before iOS 17. (So I’ve done one from 16.5) ⬅️

I CAN NOT STRESS that enough.

You need a safe platform/back up to go back to if sh*t hits the fan. If you hate IOS 17, as it’s just too buggy, you can easily restore back to the last official build.

Also some advice for the newbies to this or not that confident to get yourselves out of a bricked phone situ… I’d wait till beta 3 to be in the all round “safer” side of iOS 17 👍🏼

PLEASE, PLEASE, just brush up on some general reading about betas, IPSW files and DFU mode for emergencies. It still amazes me the way people go into these things blind and then panic because their “main” device 🙄 doesnt work how “they” had expected.

This is the way.

LOL so you are worried about Cox charging an extra $10 for data so you are going to spend another $1600 for a spare phone? Makes since. 😂

Also if you paid for AppleCare + may as well use it yes? Why wouldn't you? Apple HAS to love you spending all that cash on them every year. They should be calling you periodically to make sure your phone works better! Lets start a petition to make them take better care of you!!! You have earned it.

Shhhh. Me too.
My wife has both beta options - customer and developer - and she’s never been within a mile of a beta or a developer site, wouldn’t even know how to get to either. I’ve just told her to ignore and never touch those options.

I have the developer beta option even though im not enrolled for betas, seems like a bug and will probably get fixed

Decided to fast-charge the iPhone 20W iPhone charge... MagSafe battery pack plugged in on the back of the iPhone. Heavily using Safari with over 450+ Safari Tabs open, was on a 2-hour phone call with a friend. So yeah... I like to abuse my iPhone.
My friend that’s just you being you. Anyone who has known you for as long as I have knows that’s just what you do. But I am always thankful that the iPhone is built to take it!😊😊✔️

Am I missing something here, you’ve paid for Apple +, why aren’t you using it?

Little bit extravagant to not and go buy two phones. You can sit in at Apple and use their Wi-Fi.

The past few months your phone has had countless problems on here. Please can we draw a line under it now. I really hope a new phone sorts out your problems 👍🏼

P.s don’t forget Apple will want you on the latest release. So you’ll have to downgrade back to 16.5.

Me happy. It should make all of us happy.
