I found that battery drain was worse on 5G auto with this beta. Switching to 4G and the battery is now stellar. For betas I normally upgrade with the ipsw and not ota.

Interesting. I have had this issue on my 12 Pro but only at work. I assumed it was ATT's network in the town I work in. I have been using the airplane mode trick for awhile, which does work. No issues that I can report on Wifi though, at least my network.
I have had the same issue with my 13 pro at work on ATT. For me the issues seemed to start when they started deploying 5G. Before then I had no issues. Makes me think they are having some sort of problem integrating or converting their system. I have coworkers with the same phone on different but networks and they haven’t had any issues. Glad to hear I’m not the only one.

Last year's final beta was released on 8/30 and phones still shipped to customers on 9/24. It will be a September launch, at least for some iPhones (maybe they'll stagger the launch, but usually there are rumors of delays by now). I'm guessing shipping to customers on 9/16 or 9/23 at the latest.
This should be on the speculation thread, not the beta thread.

It sound exactly like the issue with VPNs on iOS, specifically around open TCP connections staying on their routing path after the network switches. In other words, you go into work and connect to Wifi, the thé open ports are still going over Cell 5G/LTE until they are reset.

Airplane mode is the quick reset for this.

Apple has also had a lot of recent issues with Bonjour, but it doesn’t seem as relevant here.

I don’t see how it could be unique to me and I wonder how many people are also experiencing the same but maybe don’t even realize it.

There’s nothing particularly special about my iPhone (11 Pro Max) relative to anyone else’s, I browse Safari just like anyone else does. And this is something that never happened on any version of 15.X
I've had 0 hard crashes. Only real major bug I've had was phone unresponsive after charging overnight a single time.

My iMessage is suddenly logged out on my iPad. My phone and iPad have been on the beta for a while.

Are others getting sudden logouts?

People need to keep in mind - ALL software releases have unfixed bugs (for anything that has over 10k lines of code at least). Defects go through triage where they're prioritized and put into the schedule. Some are never fixed, as they're simply so rare and/or unrepeatable. If you can't regenerate an issue, how can you possibly effect a fix?

Those that are having Wi-Fi /Cellular connectivity issues I had to reset network settings twice and seemed to fix my issue on my phone.. My phone has been spot on since these resets.. Have a great day. !!

My Wi-Fi connectivity, even though it’s always on full bars around the home, hasn't ghosted me since the second reset.

Good shout Bobout. 👊🏼

Does anyone else notice putting your phone in low power mode, make your phone constantly switch between 5G and LTE and sticking to LTE more often even with 5G set to on.

If you have an iPhone 12 series, this is normal and is not part of iOS 16. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205234
It would not surprise me if Apple expanded this functionality to the 13 series with iOS 16.
In cell options, there’s a 5G Auto setting, which it the default. LTE consumes less power and auto optimizes battery usage, I’m not surprised low power mode baises it even more to LTE. This all likely stretches the battery life.

I’d say it’s working as expected.

I still can’t get it, I get an error:
“FaceTime Activation
Unable to contact the FaceTime server.
Try again.”

Been trying for days.

Settings > Password

I did a quick search for an old login/password and found that unless I canceled the search, I was locked into the password search screen. I could exit Settings but could not select any other options in Settings.
Don’t remember this in the prior betas - then again it isn’t something I do frequently.

13 ProMax.
Had this happen again - originally occurred in beta 7.

Someone called me and the call went straight to VM. They are in my contacts and while it showed up in VM, Recents showed nothing. They tried calling back and same issue. My Spam app - Hiya - showed the call.
They then called me on my other phone and no issue - OnePlus 9 Pro.

I just did a Reset Network Settings and while this potentially helped last time - issue seemed to go away, I am hoping it helps this time too.

I installed this beta on my iPhone 11 Pro a few days ago using OTA from 15.6.1. Pleasantly surprised by no issues with battery life or heating up, which was a big issue for me on beta 1. I'd say battery is on-par with iOS 15. Off charger since morning from 100%, now 55%, with 4 hours total on screen usage.

Got a question…

On several screenshots at different places I see the ios16 lockscreen with the clock deep effect AND widgets below the clock. To my knowledge that’s not possible? Am I wrong or are those screenshots only mockups?

We are not expecting another beta (or RC) this week until after the event is over?
I am still getting an incredible amount of device crashes. I woke up in the middle of the night and my phone was asking me for my full password again instead of Face ID, which is what everyone loves to do when they are still half asleep.

Were you charging overnight?

Both of our 13 Pros have been doing a lot of that. No notifications and missed calls.

Any chance you have a focus mode enabled and your caller was not on the allow list?
