there's still time!!

Nah, I’m starting to think those reports that they don’t even have enough people to work on different hardware at once are true. They probably aren’t even aware 16.3 is garbage and are just working on the stupid goggles because that’s what they think will get them the best pr this year. iOS has been on the back burner for years anyway.

This incompetence honestly worries me not just about the software but the hardware as well, we know they jacked up the chip in the iPhone 14 pro’s, the Pixel 8 pro will probably be pretty amazing. Hello.

Why do you assume this is incompetence? What if this is exactly on their schedule. You are not privy to that. You have no idea when they planned to get this released.

And what if there is a major unanticipated issue they are trying to address? World you rather they released the software and say “oh well…we don’t want to disappoint our fans who obsess over new releases. Let’s release now regardless of the major issue!”

100% this! Man, some of the comments on this thread are very dramatic.

For those wondering, Apple Pay Later is activated server side. So that means it’s not necessarily tied to iOS 16.4. It could launch before a new OS is available.

So this is not the reason for the delay like some have speculated here
don't trust mark Gurman he lies about iOS releases he say oh its out but it doesn't release

Because they’ve had like 4 months now to fix simple bugs that people have been reporting to them and yet nada. Also I can’t remember ever waiting this long for a new beta in Jan-Feb after a point release?

If there’s that bug of an issue maybe they could communicate that out to the tech community so we’re not all coming up with conspiracies and doomsday scenarios?

I was thinking the same, and it could always be added in later betas as we’ve seen with countless other things over the years, there’s always beta 2,3 to pop that zit.

Unfortunately, Apple don't communicate (very rarely). This has always been their dark side and unless they change, this will inevitably will be their downfall. They undoubtedly need to be more transparent.

Does your business (assuming you are old enough to be in a business) reveal all of it’s issues to its customers?

“Gosh Mrs Jones: I hope your drycleaning doesn’t come back with holes in it since last week I forgot to clean the machine”.

“Boy Mr. smith, you should have seen the coding error John made. If we hadn’t found it using our quality control processes, it might have disclosed all of our customers’ banking info on the internet. Good thing we figured that out!”

No. You keep your mouth shut until something happens. Why should Apple do any differently?

You seem to have a very entitled attitude, as if these betas were for you. They’re not. They’re for Apple to improve its software.

And guess what: I’ve learned to just deal with minor bugs as what they are: minor annoyances. I don’t come in here whining about them.
