pretty sure it is connected to the internet!

As an aside, I’m on regular release. Just imagine ALL of the millions of people also potentially getting this same error. Regardless of whether it’s “fixed” or not, it says a lot. Tons of “non tech savvy” folks will be seeing this and flooding there ‘tech support folks’ with this issue… sad.

I got my Security Response on my iPad Pro but it is unable to verify the update because I am not connected to the Internet whereas I am of course.
Per the iSoftwareUpdate guy on Twitter, this is a gradual rollout. Not communicated well I guess (or someone hit the wrong button).
Probably want to make sure it doesn’t make your devices paper weights. 🤣

I’m not to sure why you think explaining to someone why they don’t need a profile anymore is “petty”. It’s just trying to help.
Yeah, I mean it would make more sense if Apple posted something official pointing to some new expected way going forward. Personally, I like just having the option based off my Login. My wife has her iPhone setup "as her" but using may account for Family Sharing and whatnot.. She's got the Beta Toggle, based off my login. There's been times where I've wanted to put her phone on a beta update or RC, but didn't. This makes it easier to just explain to her what to do, instead of having to just take her phone and do it all myself.
Well this apply a device specific rapid response update the day before Dev seeded RC's fits their flow style of beta cycle updates. If it is the RC tomorrow then PB should be out nearly same time. 
Let them all dance around the same pole with flowers in their hair today (Its May Day) moaning that the update never showed.

Not sure if you are trying to be snippy or really just ignorant, but I think its pretty obvious what the point would be.
