I hate not risking issues on my phone by not joining the betas because I feel like I miss a lot of cool new things. Everyone is excited for IOS 17 and here I am waiting for IOS 16.6. Hopefully with the IOS 17 seeds going out today, IOS 16.6 will be ready to go by next week or something. I haven't liked IOS 16 that much and actually miss the stability of IOS 15. Hopefully 17 is an exciting release in September.
I never understood the hype of using unfinished builds on your phone. But to each their own. I'm happy waiting for a more stable build and using it without having issues. Or at least, many issues.

It’s because the later beta cycles of a previous years iOS have decreasing risk comparably over time later in their version development. Just because the iOS 16.6 is still a currently an public beta doesn’t mean a iPhone owner can’t try out that beta to see if it resolves/improves some issue they have experienced with the most recent public release. The word stable is usually associated with a build that is unchanging when release to the public. Technically everything that is not released to the public is deemed unstable as aspects of the build could see changes. What is subjective is people rating a iOS build as being stable with their usage. In other words lacking issues that affect them, even though others might experience some issue. What you deem unfinished might be more finished then what you are using depending on how it operates. Those are reasons people try out betas before they are eventually released. :)

I test betas to see if Apple has screwed up functions that I find essential. This gives me the maximum time to downgrade and/or skip a release.

Back in the day of my iPhone 6s the final update to iOS 10 screwed up output to an external DAC. Apple did not resolve this 6s specific problem until partway through iOS 12 - about 18 months.

Getting back on target I am hoping for an RC today. My (100%) battery has been emptying like crazy recently.

Other then around 10 AM PST, sometimes early afternoon around 1 PM PST also for seeds. Given you have a week with a holiday don't be surprised by that. Still there is always Friday and early next week.

Tomorrow would be a nice surprise but I bet more on Monday.

I work in IT for a very large hospital system in the Midwest and I run the betas because I know come fall there's going to be some changes I'll want to be very familiar with. Not to mention I help out our own internal app teams to help out with MyChart issues or Citrix things, Vocera issues.. Imagine your nurse not understanding something different on her work issued iPhone while she's in the room with you.. Well, I'm taking screenshots and documenting changes so nurses already know about those differences.

Plus, understanding the low risk (Archived Backup so you can restore Later if Needed = Peace of mind), I don't mind restoring my phone if needed. Doesn't take long anymore. Betas are fun! Unless they're not.. Betas! Yeah! lol

In your case, it's understandable. IT is in constant change and being aware of current issues is being one or multiple steps ahead.

Never thought about it like that. Point taken ;)

I am a lil surprised it wasn't today that means we gotta wait another week for 16.6
I'm not. They only release something on Friday when they have to, like that one time they released a DST fix for the weekend before DST changed. Not to mention that many people were off Monday and Tuesday, if not the entire week.

I would expect next beta or RC to drop Monday or Tuesday next week. 16.6 GA probably slated for July 17, 18, 24, or 25; depending on whether RC comes out next week.

I would of thought the RC is next, such a long cycle for nothing much
Are you looking at this from simply iOS beta cycle or also adding IPadOS/tvOS 16.6, watch 9.6, and MacOS Ventura 13.5 betas. It's a package of all these OS's for this beta cycle. Some features go across multiple OS's in usage.

This is also a excellent indicator that there is no rush to ship iOS 16.6 that quickly if there is a beta 5.
