I'd really like to see the ability to delete specific autocorrect mistakes. For example, my iPhone has decided that whenever I type 20 to change it to 2.0. You can only reset the entire keyboard dictionary (note: this is different from the explicit "replacements" you can set up).
They also moved all the different reset options (all, network, cellular, keyboard, home screen, location & privacy) under a button that just says "Reset". There's indication that those options exist by tapping that button. No "…". Just a page that says "Transfer or Reset iPhone" and a button labeled "Reset". Not a friendly experience.

Just don’t add any feature, just work in fixing bugs and improve performance battery life.
You folks always post this and then WWDC comes around and everyone of you starts complaining about how lame this release is. Look at the iOS 15 board around WWDC going "this is so lackluster, might aswell be iOS 14.x!!!" and the same people were the ones crying that they always push out new features instead of refining existing ones.

This is absolutely true!

Same could be said with the reverse logic. Those who have turned this thread into their rainbows and unicorns wishlist instead of what it is more or less meant to be (realistic, grounded speculation) will face disappointment when WWDC announcements don’t live up to even half of their wildest dreams.

I understand that my main “want” expressed on the first page of this thread—a relatively benign fresh coat of paint slapped across the UI to bring iOS more parity (even if purely superficial) with macOS—probably isn’t even all that realistic.

At the same time, we do occasionally get features no one really saw coming. Live text, for example. I doubt anyone had that on their bingo card for iOS 15. Yet it’s arguably one of the best and most useful features Apple has ever introduced.

So, unless something is positively off the charts crazy, I wouldn’t go too far claiming requested features are unicorns.

I don’t think we’ll see a general overhaul of the UI this year mainly due to the difficulties in the collaborative development process during the pandemic. But we are due for an iOS 7-like freshening of the overall UI. So, if not this year, I’d say by 2024 at the latest.

☝️?

ABSO ? LUTELY!!! ?

Gunna be some unhappy people if this happens, a lot of people couldn’t stand iOS 7. ???

I’m all for it, hope they flip the whole UI on its head. ?

I know it’s a pipe dream, especially with the way  does things, that’s 50 years away.

Time to tuck in my pet kangaroo and get some sleep myself. ✌️???

This!

It’s usually the little secret updates that people weren’t expecting that I end up using the most. And even if they aren’t that revolutionary, as it is pointed out over and over again, Apple makes it so seamless in most cases that it just works so well across all devices and apps.

Don’t forget to tuck in the ginormous spiders too!

By “iOS 7 like refresh” I mean of that scope and magnitude. Not necessarily embracing the same design cues or a return to skeumorphism.

Would be great to see UI improvements of at least some apps. Some services are losing its market share purely because of UI. For example, people switch to Spotify because Apple Music is simply not as comfortable.

1. It's not possible to resume a song on another device (when we switch from iPhone to MacBook for example). And this is despite the fact that we have universal control which is far more advanced.

2. Cover Flow was literally available since the iPhone release and now it's not available. Or any other landscape view.

3. We have the biggest screens ever, but album covers are the smallest now. Repeat and shuffle buttons also disappeared. No ability to edit icons in the tab bar. All this was available since the very first iPhone.

Album names have also disappeared. Here's a comparison:

2. Photos

White background, menus and controls are distracting in the Photos App.

Black colour is more suited for photos.

3. Too much white background in iBooks.

Some fun skeuomorphic interface would make it much more popular.

This one (or something similar) I give about an 80% chance of happening in the next 2-3 years (at most).
Its something so basic that Android phones have had for decades now. How hard is it to put a basic temp and a conditions icon. All that info is already in the iPhone weather app.

Apple is just stubborn on stuff like that. We're not worthy.

No. I am reasonably sure that Apple is concerned with screen burn in. And until they are satisfied that they have solved that hardware problem 100% of the time, they’re not going to put themselves in a position where they are getting warranty claims due to screens debilitated due to burn in.

I wasn't talking about always on display. Just when you tap your screen or lift it up, there should be a brief weather info shown next to the time... Very simple, just current temperature and a conditions icon.

I have mentioned this before in a few threads, but Apple would do well to buy a MyFitnessPal kind of app and integrate it into the Health app. Between Apple Fitness+ and the Apple Watch, the company is very good at calories OUT but it has nothing built in for calories IN.

Integrating food tracking into Health would be a huge plus.

That’s an awesome idea! That would go a long way to providing a total health option for Apple.

Unfortunately I don't think there will be a revision of the interface in iOS 16, but I don't think it's because Apple can't, but because it doesn't want to. This company is specializing in the law of minimum effort, it does what is fair and necessary. And if you rush me, I liked the interface in iOS 7 or 8 better than how it has evolved over time.
Really, the only thing I would ask of Apple, beyond other features that you may think we need, is that once and for all they allow you to change the notification sound for each app at the system level, not leave the ball in the court of the developers, because it is clear that these are mostly not something that interests them. Another point that would also be good to solve once and for all is the "System Data" section and its erratic and non-transparent operation. These two things have not been improved since iOS was created, and I think it's time to receive changes. Because it's ridiculous that all iPhones sound the same, just like out of nowhere the system decides to fill your free space with garbage.
