Last week was a (b) build for iOS 16 & iPadOS 16 while tvOS & watchOS were (a) builds. So we may only get an iOS release today for an (a) build or it may get skipped for the RC next week if Apple deems it's ready and rumors flying this weekend that Apple has finished iOS 16 work. So we could even get an iOS 16.1 beta release this week or next.
I do see macOS beta this week as it's still a (d) build and one did not come out last week.

Wait what? iOS 16.1 already? They just finished working on iOS 16. Happening way too fast.

This is possible. Much will also depend on whether they want to keep iPadOS and iOS synced in terms of version numbers.

I think the build is already final because they’re loading it on to the new hardware. Won’t make any difference if it’s today or Thursday.

I could also be completely wrong.

Yeah, but they release them for a reason so they are continuing to develop it, even if some version of it has already is being loaded onto new devices.

My hypothesis (i.e.,wild speculation ) is that they are not yet loading it on devices but will once they release this beta, later this week. Then, future development will really be for the development of 16.0.1.
