For my Mercedes, yes it’s the CarPlay turn by turn directions that show up on the HUD.When you are all saying that you can see turn by turn in your instrument panel and HUD, you mean the OEM satnav, or do you mean carplay Maps?
my Santa Fe already has turn by turn in the instrument panel and the HUD, but it isn’t CarPlay, but the satnav that came with the car. We don’t use the built in satnav, just CarPlay Apple Maps, but that is only displayed on the large infotainment screen, not the instrument panel and HUD, which this update seems to make possible.
the question is, is CarPlay going to be able to take over the navigation entirely in the instrument panel and the HUD just by being enabled in software by Hyundai, or even if it is possible in cars that already do this with their OEM navigation.
if you live in Europe you can go for the Kia Ceed or the even cheaper Kia Picanto. Both models wil adopt the new functionality with the 2024 modelsWell, my vehicles are from 1998 and 2000 so I have to do everything by iPhone. I do have a bluetooth to FM transmitter so at least I hear the directions over the radio.
Can you take a photo or screenshots? This is good, but what I have now lost on my Polestar 2 is the ability to have the detailed map show in both the dashboard display and the main display. Now one shows the detailed display (i.e. the view you navigate from) and the other shows a large scale full-route overview which is so zoomed out it's of limited value, especially on long trips. You can swap them around, but you have to have one on each view, they can't both show the detailed view at the same time which was supported previously.
That's how my Ram shows it when running CarPlay on the big infotainment screen. This new update is eventually supposed to allow the entire digital cluster to be CarPlay's aka, controlled by Apple. Right now, its just passing through some map data.My BMW X5 has it anyway unless it will look different. Both HUD and control display below

Is this just with the new beta? If so I need to test it on my 22 Audi. Fingers crossedMy '23 VW GTI shows next turns/directions in the driver-facing instrument screen if I'm using Apple Maps via Carplay, including a nice little "countdown" bar that indicates how close I'm getting to the turn/direction. Doesn't work for Waze unfortunately, and I'm not sure about Google Maps.
Nice. Let's bring it on 🍏That's how my Ram shows it when running CarPlay on the big infotainment screen. This new update is eventually supposed to allow the entire digital cluster to be CarPlay's aka, controlled by Apple. Right now, its just passing through some map data.
Is this what they mean by "maneuver"? I was expecting something much more...I never used it because it didn't indicate the distance to next turn (or the street name!) like it does on the phone itself or in the infotainment system.
I had a Quick Look just before, and that’s not what I'm getting. For me everything is the same except now I see turning directions on the drivers display. (Polestar 2). They’ve taken away diatance and time to arrival, and just left time of arrival, which is fine by me.This is good, but what I have now lost on my Polestar 2 is the ability to have the detailed map show in both the dashboard display and the main display. My 2023 iD.4 also shows lane guidance and upcoming turns. My VW id.3 Already shows turn by turn in the HUD.
Same here. I even have a 2022 Audi, but I doubt they will back update. They are saving it for new purchases to get people to upgrade. Which I might...I’d love to have this but I have an older 2020 Mercedes and I doubt Mercedes is going to implement this.
Never used a HUD before, is that brighter than what it seems like in this picture mate?My BMW X5 has it anyway unless it will look different. Both HUD and control display below. Still Waze is my go to satnav. I can't get used to Apple Maps. For example switching to alternative route when driving is not intuitive. The views (3d or not) also not very user friendly...

I couldn't wait and just jumped onto the iOS 17.4 beta train.I had a Quick Look just before, and that’s not what I'm getting. Which Lexus. I have a 2024 RX450h+Same on my 2023 Lexus, I see the turn by turn directions with an arrow on my driver screen and heads-up display. Hoping this update includes these vehicles 🙏
Same boat as you, same car. Will check the update out but I still doubt it’ll supplant the native Google maps in the car for me.NICE! When they finally added Apple Maps to the instrument cluster in my Polestar 2, I never used it because it didn't indicate the distance to next turn (or the street name!) like it does on the phone itself or in the infotainment system. Not sure how/why this was even left out in the first place.
It's well visible both daytime and nighttime. It's just hard to photograph it nicely.Never used a HUD before, is that brighter than what it seems like in this picture mate?
HUD is a killer feature, you can brighten and dim it and there is a rotate function that will leave you scratching your head.... this has gotten me thinking to try Apple Maps since I never used it and on my BMW and Mini, the missing functionality of CarPlay has been no HUD for me. The visible feature has been that it's a bit crap and nails the battery. It's well visible both daytime and nighttime. It's just hard to photograph it nicely.
I have a 2022 VW Touran (not available in the US) minivan built in 2021. I use Apple Maps and the turn-by-turn directions show up in the center (dashboard) cluster, both text and graphic (left or right turn, roundabout) as well as road names or numbers and distance to turn countdown. I do not use the built-in VW nav system. The large detailed Apple map shows up in the large screen on the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel along with the other CarPlay controls. It works both with a wireless connection and a wired connection. I prefer wired to save on battery power. When you are all saying that you can see turn by turn in your instrument panel and HUD, you mean the OEM satnav, or do you mean carplay Maps?
