Yeah. Siri in her current form is absolutely garbage. I only use Siri to set timers or ask for directions, but she doesn't even do that correctly half the time. Siri almost never works when I ask it to play a band or a song in Apple Music. It feels like it's been getting gradually worse.
I have found that Siri does much better on playing music if you use the pattern “play song name by artist name”. When I try to start with the artist’s name, Siri has a hard time understanding what part is the song and what part is the artist. “Play artist’s song name” never works well.

Imagine these are the kind of questions people asked Siri:

No wonder she quits.

Nothing is a ridiculous claim. Is it entirely responsible for its failings? Doubtful, but don’t pretend for a second that Google/Alexa got so good because they were focussed on privacy. On the contrary, I believe they improved so rapidly because they care nothing about your privacy and invade it as much as they legally, or illegally can.

I have found when using Siri, they way we articulate words is more important than with the advertising and sales company versions. The reasons it needs to be connected to the internet? Like the others, they’re cloud based. It does some pre processing on the device, but the main works still done in the cloud. How smart are Google & Alexa when not connected? So one rule for them, and one for Apple?

You do know that Instagram is Facebook, right? And you gave your rights to privacy away when you put it on your device. Here’s the test. Does the same thing happen with Android, or is it less or more?
Well of course I know Instagram is FaceBook, but does Apple allow the end user to control privacy or is it implied you give up all privacy per apps that Apple approves on their App Store? I don’t blame Instagram. I know they’re data collecting, which is why I don’t allow App Tracking, microphone access, camera and photo access. How is it possible for Instagram to present an advertisement about a product I was talking about with my wife or friends when my phone was locked and screen off? I blame Apple for apparently allowing apps to override (presumably?) Apple’s app settings that the end user supposedly controls from the Settings app.

If nothing happens until iOS 18, that's very late.

apple doesnt do anything substantial with their OS updates except once per year. if it does not come with some AI update reveal next week to join iOS 17 at some point, it's not happening. apple's not a major innovator with software.

Siri, why is your weather report wrong today "SIRI" "I can't tell the difference between weather and your shopping list"

can’t wait to ask it to set a five minute timer and have it send a gif of me questioning why i ever try to do anything with siri to someone

Retire the Siri brand and I’ll consider re-enabling the iOS voice assistant.

Whining about Siri is always a crowd-pleaser and forum cred-builder, though.
So people who have genuine complaints about a piece of software that has been terrible for years with little to no improvements are just "trying to get forum cred"?

Just stop with the insults and and hominems.

Google and Alexa aren't currently using LLMs. Maybe they're a little better than Siri, but it's nothing particularly impressive.

If Siri becomes something like an on-device chatbot that can perform complicated tasks, that would be a huge leap ahead of the competition as it stands today. But it's tricky because you can't just run an LLM on a phone, it requires way too much RAM.

Wow, so she might understand incredibly complex queries like "What's the weather for this weekend?" Because she couldn't do that for me today.
