FFS, we're at iOS 16 right now. So now we're discussing features for an OS more than 1 year ahead? Can't stand this anymore...
Unless you want Apple to start planning new iOS versions less than a year before release, rumors for new versions more than a year off will turn up. This has been the normal state of affairs for years.

I don't care about GIFs and shortcuts. Siri is such rubbish that about two thirds of my attempts to use it for Calendar entries or To Do list items are fails. It is truly pathetic and it learns nothing. It messes up one entry, and I patiently correct it. I then immediately put in a near-identical second entry and makes all the same mistakes. It was absolutely woeful.

I turn Siri off on all my Apple devices….I’ve found no use for it.
Me too, and also because it used to trigger in meetings etc. even when I did not say, "Hey Siri." A couple of months back I turned it on again, thinking it must be better by now, and it is time to see if it can help me at work for the most part. Well, it can't. It is utter garbage. Time to turn it off again, I think.

We’re twelve years in to Siri and still no where near Alexa, Google. It’s shocking the difference in responses when I ask Alexa vs Siri the same thing. Way more information from Alexa.
I honestly think it depends what you’re asking. I get better food recommendations from Siri.

EVERY OS update claims to have "fixed" Siri and it just gets worse. It can't understand this college educated plain american accent of mine half the time (google did 95% of the time when I had Android - 6 years ago)! In 2023 & the world of AI it's a disgrace that Apple can't improve speech recognition and results.

So, do we wait till 2025 for iPhones or? Lol. It is kind of sad cause I have Alexa right now and every few months I check HomePod compatibility cause I would love to switch since Apple seems to be more secure with your info than Amazon, but the commands and the third-party services and devices that don't work with Siri and HomePod holds me back.

I hope in 2025 I finally get to switch to HomePod.

I use Alexa for everything in my house. Hue, Ring, Blink, Hive, Sonos, Xbox, pretty much everything

Siri can just about set a timer

Absolute joke, especially as it launched with the 4s

As an example, Siri might be able to do something like take a series of five photos, turn them into a GIF, and send the resulting GIF to a friend, all as one single action. Automatically converting photos into a GIF is possible right now with the Shortcuts app, but it has to be set up manually.
All well and good, I guess, but I truly don't care about a faster way to make GIFs or do nerdy crap like that. Honestly who cares?

Siri will truly become useful to me when I can say:

"find a time on my calendar tomorrow morning for a 15 minute call with Mike Smith, and then text him an invite with a FaceTime link".

"look up a recipe on [website] for marinated chicken breast and add the ingredients to the shopping list"

"if the forecast changes to rain tomorrow morning, remind me to grab an umbrella before I catch the train to work"

"find a place to go on a gentle hike with my kid Sunday morning at 10am and put it on my calendar"

... and just generally connecting the dots between all these apps I use and have given it permission to root around in.

I guess we'll get there at some point, but when I hear about **** like making GIFs it just makes me mad. I don't need more ways to waste time.

Should start with Siri (aka hey siri) on multiple devices! Do you know how often 3-4 devices decide to do ****? My watch, phone, Mac etc so Siri is usually useless to me

"Siri, give me driving directions home." Except the default directions are set to Walking, so Siri gives you walking directions for the 6hr walk home. Maybe in iOS 19, they can get directions right.

Thanks Siri!

Or how about when you ask Siri what the current dew point is Siri actually tells you instead of sending you to a Wikipedia page for the definition of dew point. 🤦🏼‍♀️
(Off topic, but yes, dew point is seriously underrated as an index of comfortable weather. Humidity percentage varies so much by temperature it's basically useless as a rule of thumb, but dew point is consistent: if it's much above 55° you're gonna start feeling sticky when it's hot.)

And now all you americans imagine you try to use siri to call some of your contacts (with non american/english names)… that is really funny game, you have to imagine how should these names sound in English to give siri chance to choose right person - well, success rate aint big😂

Shortcuts are not advancing. So Siri will be límite by them.
I want to disable wifi when I arrive to my office and re enable when I arrive back home, automatically and transparently. No questions, just do it. Not possible…
