beta 6 has an A build so its possible we get a RC this week
The Build Number/Letter has nothing to do with their internal release schedule. All the Letter means is that they compiled it once that day. It wasn't rejected and sent back to be compiled again. They're still going to keep on keeping on with the dates they've got set on their calendar.

Hope I am wrong, probably will be wrong, but I have this feeling we don't see an RC before a MAC event or press release. I have this feeling 18.1 RC will have something that links to the supposed new MACs. That is kind of why I am thinking two RCs. One being this week without code and the one next week coming after the announcement with code.

If Gurman is correct that October 28th is the release date for 18.1, then the RC will likely come next week. I do not see them issuing two Release Candidates. As I pointed out before, what’s the point? Just use another beta. Secondly, something is not a release candidate if it’s not going to be released.

Also, I don’t see that there’s going to be anything groundbreaking in any of the new Macs that would require the level of secrecy that we see ahead of the iPhone release. There may be some new colors and maybe a new form factor for the Mini, but the main driver is going to be the M4 chip and the resulting increase in speed and efficiency. If there were going to be anything new and groundbreaking, we might have seen it in the recently released unboxing of the stolen Macs obtained by the Russian bloggers.

9to5 article said "18.1 RC imminent" and indicated perhaps this week. Could have a 2 week run on RC and leaves time for an RC2 if needed after testing it.

I could get behind this too. Given the importance of the Apple Intelligence launch, I could see them wanting an extended RC period. Maybe it’s during that that they move all the processing on device.

So… either iOS 18.1 beta 7 OR iOS 18.2 beta 1 today. I know, people will say nada to iOS 18.2 beta 1, however it’s coming before iOS 18.1 drops to the public users. (Non beta users)…

I don’t think we’ll see 18.2 b1 until we see 18.1 RC. I’d love to but don’t see that. But happy to be proven wrong.

Hope it's the 18.1 RC today so I can finally update to 18.1 and see what this apple intelligence is about (not expecting much). Been patiently waiting on 18.0.1 on my 16 Pro cause I don't want to add bugs.

Beside Apple AI, we already talked about EU… 18.1 seems to be a very polished release, at least in my experience.
No more squared notifications, it’s very fluid and smooth here on my 15 Pro.

I will be in Japan when 18.1 gets released.

Does this mean I will have the AI features as long as I’m there and when I get back to the EU it’ll be deactivated?

I somehow hope for a bug that doesn’t deactivate it lol.

I'm hoping for the RC today. Haven't been impressed with 18.0.1 on my 16PM and I refuse to rejoin the beta train as my phone is too vital with my work to risk any weird, albeit rare, bugs.
Think it’s really getting the standard with the brand new iPhones from day1 on… most issues getting fixed with the x.1 release.
Think about the issues with 14 (pro) with the camera and social media apps.
15 (pro) with the screen and heat.
16 so far seems ok, no major issues shortly after release. Probably only the touch issues with the screen.
