This makes sense as to why my passcode was apparently input incorrectly twice during setup forcing me to go via recovery mode to start again. I heard this happened to at least one other user on the forum too. Sounds like its glitching out and mistyping.

i had to return my 16 pro due to microphone problems wity phone calls and video recording and disconnected mobile connections. Problem with hadndfree via Bluetooth. I dont care IF it hardware or software.
What does this have to do with the touchscreen/keyboard issues? Completely unrelated issue.

16 PM - experiencing it big time…
Yesterday screen would respond again after a few seconds.
Today, have had to force restart the phone 3 times, as screen stopped responding to any touch completely…
Disappointing

16PM…screen touch issues since I turned it on.
Not intermittent…constant missed touches, especially within 1cm of edges.

I am glad this is being noticed by others. Not as bad as Android within apps such as Instagram (try to select an account when viewing a post), yet still super annoying when I am attempting to do something quick on my iPhone 15 pro.

This reason and this reason:

are why I always wait at least 1 to 2 months after the first (.0 version) of any new iOS is released

And also on the intermittent updates (throughout the year) I try to wait at least 3 weeks before I download and install those updates as well

But I think a good rule of thumb is to wait a period of time after these (initial .0) iOS updates before downloading and installing the big September update - in case any problems arise

Me never having any of these reported problems is why i still update day one. And honestly most of them are usually minor problems.

So my rule of thumb is: don't overthink it and have fun with the new stuff. At the beginning you can still downgrade anyway.

Which is actually something you can't do later on. So i guess if you upgrade later and find something that really bugs you, you will be stuck with it.

This is misrepresented, at one point you say oh you can downgrade which isnt true by the way just fyi, then the next you say oh you cant downgrade. Which one is it? Make it make sense

Had this issue show up on my iPhone 13 mini yesterday where the camera would be unresponsive totally, especially when trying to open it via camera button on the Lock Screen. Never had this issue until iOS18.

Buggy software is common for brand new devices, but I've experienced a lot more bugs in 16 Pro than I have in previous models. I expect them to be handled soon, so no big deal. But still - a lot more than I remember in the past.

13PM and in IG the back button in the upper left corner sometimes is unresponsive in reels. You have to force close IG and open it and start fresh on your feed.

I'll probably wait until at least iOS 18.6 before updating from the final version of iOS 17. Thanks to Tim Cook's cluelessness, iOS 18.0 is a buggy mess.

Pretty sure I've seen this on my iPhone 11. Feels like the phone has locked up for a few seconds while swipe downs are not doing anything.

I didn't think I had seen it on my 13 pro, but I'm having the same issue as you.

I’ve noticed a lot of the people on Reddit complaining are also running 18.1 beta. They complain online instead of actually reporting it

Yes... 😂
🤣😂🤣 I've had this issue Since the 2020 iPhone SE. And can we talk about how Apple needs to have a "Fat Thumb" software keyboard already? It takes me two weeks to type up a one sentence text. 😂
🤣

So screen touch issues are only occurring when the “phone is unlocked and in use”. Wow. This is Pulitzer Prize winning writing

I have seen this on my iPhone 16 PM running 18.1. Especially in the corners of the screen near the edge

I didn't really see it on my 15 Pro Max but then again maybe I didn't notice

I am experiencing something similiar on my Apple Watch Series 9 running watchOS11.
It's funny I didn't really think much about it but I'm also seeing similar issues on my ultra two. That started with watchOS 11 around the release candidate.
