I watched the whole Prosser video, and it was just… nothing. He kept reiterating the same point over and over for what is new, and then he talks about the Home Screen and he’s like “it probably won’t change ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

His video was just… so full of fluff. I think he just likes to hear himself talk.

I know this is just a phone. But jezzz ewwwww. That does not look good. And that is why I think this might be real. I have no confidence in Apple decisions anymore. It looks like some teenager at home decided to do "design". And whats up with android round icons. Horrid!

I didn't watch the video, but is the glass effects meant to animate as I rotate my phone around? I know iOS does this in some places like the Apple Card. If it's system wide, would that take a toll on battery life?

If this is the main feature of iOS19 I feel bad for Craig Federighi when he has to do his bit on design. He tries his best, but some of the stuff they want him to present in those keynote videos are so lame.

Short of real evidence, if the rumor is bad and stupid I tend to believe it, if it's good, I tend to think it's false. Because this is Tim Cook's Apple.

So I believe this one for now.

They will give higher refresh rate to the standard line and market the hell out of how smooth the tabview and overall system animations are.

Those cut icons look hideous, however, keep in mind that Prosser says on the video that he still believes that final icons will be round, and that what they saw may well be just a glitch or an unfinished work. I too believe the icons will become round. The biggest clue is the current iOS 18 Control Center. Nobody questioned why the new CC has round single icons instead of the previous squirqules? Exactly.

I suspect with the iPhone (and iPad) we won’t see anything too radical as its user base is just too big and mostly conservative.

Moving all the controls to the bottom of the screen in the era of big phones makes a lot of sense.

And the moment visionOS was revealed, it was obvious that this updated design language would cascade across to its other platforms.

For me the fascinating reveal will be how this design language appears in macOS.

For a while it’s been a mishmash of the OS X GUI with some ideas from iOS and iPad grafted into it.

If Apple can make macOS feel like a unified part of its platforms that would be great.

I wonder too if this is the first time it’ll be M class processor only as a brand new look is an opportunity to break with the (Intel) past.

I wish they'd go with macOS style icons with more depth and a foreground image overlaying a rounded rectangle.
I think we are more likely to get VisionOS style icons that slightly shimmer as you change the angle of your phone.

I kinda doubt that we will see a huge change from the current icon squarcles as that look is iconic to the iPhone.
