You do realize just because you might be having issues in your world doesn’t mean others are. The new iOS is different and modern looking. What’s there not to love?i hate the look of the new ios and ipad os. i would fire the whole team. terrible quality software bugs after bugs.
So I had an issue, it got fixed. That’s what I said in my post. Am I not allowed to do that?Because you don’t have issues. Random iPhones do and it’s something I’ll never understand as we all have the exact same iOS 26 installed.
While I agree with you, and I do not have any issues with all the 26 versions on my devices, change is hard, and a lot of folks just chiming in cause negativity is better received here on MR than actually liking something…You do realize just because you might be having issues in your world doesn’t mean others are. It didn't finish in the end after two hours and is now stuck on just the apple logo after rebootingI updated with the Apple Devices app for Windows, which updates by downloading the ipsw file, and it also sent me to what you mentioned. Wait for it to finish and everything will be back in place.
Try downloading the ipsw file and see if the computer detects the phone, then try updating it with ipsw. In Windows, you can use 3utools or an Apple device. On Mac, I think the phone appears in Finder. If you don't see that, you'll have to look for a tutorial on how to enter recovery mode. You'll probably be able to update manually with the ipsw file from there. It didn't finish in the end after two hours and is now stuck on just the apple logo after rebooting

But not the same data, including all the internal OS and application and Apple Account data that accumulates over the years, besides the large number of possible Settings configurations one might have.Must be a case by case. Never understood how some people have issues and others don't. Its the same exact software on each phone.
3utools (on mac) cannot detect it on DFU so I can't do a restore that retains dataTry downloading the ipsw file and see if the computer detects the phone, then try updating it with ipsw. I would suggest resetting all settings for your heating issue if you can afford that. You’re gonna have to add all the WiFi back and the cards to Apple wallet if you use it.Another observation. I feel faceID is not as accurate? Like it’s failed multiple times. Never happened before. Hmmm. 🤔
I just had this happen a couple of hours ago, but I had a white line on the top and bottom. Same exact behavior where it went away after unlocking and going to the home screen. It hasn't happened since, but it's nice to know someone else had this happen and I'm not just seeing things.I am sure this has already been talked about and I have missed it, but, does anyone have this issue of a white line at the bottom of the lockscreen? It appears randomly.
You’re not onto something. Indexing that can affect battery occurs when the phone is connected to charger. This is why you see iCloud syncing paused for messages and photos when there’s too many. Draining people’s batteries when you feel like it would be a terrible way to design an OS.All right I’m coming around to the whole indexing thing. What I’ve found is when you feel your phone getting hot for no reason don’t reboot! It will just slow down the indexing.
Apple seems to have it scheduled to run randomly when your phone is awake doing light tasks. So what I’ve done is set my display to never lock and keep it charging on the Home Screen. Sure enough things started populating in my messages search. Still waiting for photos tab to show up under contact names. But I think I’m on to something. 🤣 It’s weird and it does the indexing in random chunks throughout the day. Every time I feel this thing start heating up I shall embrace and let it do whatever the heck it’s doing. I imagine it takes longer depending on how many photos you have built up in messages. I have quite a few but I feel like this is one of the main things the phone indexes. Some don’t have many photos while others have lots. So the duration of the heating will be longer for some shorter for others. I have photos in the cloud off and messages in the cloud off as well.
My boot time from restore with no reboots last night is approaching 20 hours. I’m going to just trust the process and see what happens and I’ll report back in a few days. Good luck with your warm phones. My feeling is they will cool off within a few days of doing the background stuff.
Interesting, in my past experience, the majority of the indexing happens with the phone locked overnight, not during daytime use, in order to conserve battery. All right I’m coming around to the whole indexing thing. Edit: forgot to note if you lock your phone it pauses the indexing for sure as my phone cools right back down after a few minutes so if you are using your phone with the screen awake a lot that helps speed up the indexing as well from what I imagine since it’s been getting so warm. I was on iOS 16 for a long time and only recently jumped to 18 for a few weeks then straight to iOS 26… they must have really changed the indexing and search features since iOS 16? Much more in depth.
I was thinking the same about the overnight indexing. It would make the most sense but my phone is always ice cold after locking and putting it on the charger and then waking up to a cold phone only to find it warming up a lot more since my iOS 26 fresh install/updating. Not sure why they want to do it while you are actively using the phone but this is what I feel is happening.Interesting, in my past experience, the majority of the indexing happens with the phone locked overnight, not during daytime use, in order to conserve battery.
My Air is still warm with light use even when using 26.1, so my current assumption is that the phone is just doing background activities from yesterday's update and now today's 26.1 update, which would explain the warmth in both phones. I'll let it do its thing too, it's not burning hot, just warm.
It’s happening when I’m disconnected from the charger though too. I’m only plugging it in to spare my battery as the indexing seems to only happen when the screen is on and I’m doing light tasks or just sitting on the Home Screen. You’re not onto something. Like I mentioned, if it’s happening off charger and with the screen on then it’s not resource intensive like spotlight indexing for new items which happens constantly as new files are added. It’s happening when I’m disconnected from the charger though too. Happening on my 16PM as well. After a forced restart, it loses 2% as soon as it comes back.i updated my 17PM to 26.0.1 and I noticed that the battery under idle/screen-off conditions is draining faster than it used to do before. Not sure if I am just imagining things or everyone here is facing the same?
that's why i didn't want to update my phone. don't know why i did. messed up my pretty good battery lifeHappening on my 16PM as well. After a forced restart, it loses 2% as soon as it comes back.

Ditto here. It's better, but still drops out fairly frequently.I am still having dropouts on wired CarPlay iPhone 17 Pro. Reported.
