Was there an option to go back to Mac OS 9 look or a non-Aqua look for Mac OS X in the early years? I only used macOS starting with macOS 10.10 Yosemite so I don't know.

I would not have replied back if only you have immediately presented evidence that Apple gave users a choice between Aqua and a non-Aqua interface back then.
No people did not have options to remove Aqua, I used it since dev preview 1.

But althought there was some transparencies, it was not a transparent user interface.

It had some menu transparencies ( traslucency I would say ) it was refreshing 25 years ago, it was readable and functional a well thought out UI.

what is the difference between these 2. the liquid glass clear and tinted icons don't do much if not anything.
I'm not sure if a setting changes affects other parts of the screen in real time but I can see the tinted options gives the bubble a dark tint in the Settings area specifically....but nothing else I can see. Not sure if closing out of each and opening again would have a change or if it is merely a starting point and the UI has to catch up

For people complaining about the HDR UI effects that has been toned down like 90% as well. So again, they’re making improvements 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

and they managed to make it work fine on computers with a fraction of GPU ad CPU power compared to the A19 today

Doesn’t work for me on 16 pro max. All I get is a check mark on CLEAR. Can’t change to tinted or anything else.

If you have Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency or Increase Contrast enabled, you have to turn those off in order to change the Liquid Glass setting. I had the same issue until I unchecked both those options, then I was able to change from "Clear" to "Tinted."

Thing is, they already arbitrarily use both of these versions depending on a random number generator. Will this make the user-chosen version be used consistently everywhere?
