The timer change is just... Ok. Apple. You made the button giantic. Not me. I liked the smaller button. It was less likely to randomly hit. How about a comproise and give us the option between a smaller buttton or the big with a slide? That way everyone can be misserable as we get startled by our phones in the morning and try to find the button.

Question:

Why is it Apple hasn’t fixed the huge amount of wasted space on the top and bottom of the Home Screen? On my 15 pro max, there’s easily enough room for an extra row of icons

This has been a thing for years, and nobody seems to discuss it. There’s wasted space all over the OS too

"The Privacy and Security section of the Settings app now has a toggle to automatically download and install security improvements. It's a revamp of the prior Rapid Security Responses feature."

How many RSR features have been released so far?

Apple released a few tests when they were beta-testing the feature, but only one actual RSR. That RSR updated Safari's user agent with the RSR release info (why that level of detail was put into the UA is beyond me -- seems like a good way to fingerprint vulnerable devices) and broke websites that parsed it incorrectly, so Apple ended up pausing distribution of the RSR and re-released it a few days later. They haven't used RSR since.

I hope it fixes bugs, my family's recently purchasd iphone 17 is bug fiesta with none responsive gui buttons and no phone connection (not sure if it has to do with eSim)

staying on iOS 18 for a good long while
That’s a great call. I’m on a iPhone 15 Pro and I’ve never wanted to downgrade so badly an iOS before, in fact, I never have but this one I will if the .1 isn’t better because my phone has been brought to a crawl with this iOS.

Wife has a Pixel and I've been eyeballing it pretty hard. The OS layout is really clean and not full of eye candy nonsense.

Still on iOS 18 myself, except on my work phone..

I've been using a used pixel 8a I purchased unlocked from Ebay ... started testing critical apps I cannot live without ... I concur ... android 16 on the pixel 8a is super clean, slick ... android auto is buttery smooth w/Google Maps ... I've just had enough of iApples lack of QA/QC and 26 is case-in-point ... also, the VPN offers split-level tunneling so I can turn off VPN for specific apps that dont function with a VPN engaged (IOS/IPADOS cannot offer SPT because of its VPN design) ...

I'll take 2026 to explore going the full monty over to non-iApple hardware/software

The alarm swipe to turn off is getting on my bloody nerves. It was better as a button. Here's an obvious idea Apple, make it an option.
It is an option.
Settings> accessibility>Touch>Prefer Single-Touch Actions.
And here we are again, people complaining that Apple won’t add things that they literally already added.

Will this be the version that finally removes “Movies/iTunes” from the Apple TV? Why is it still there?

Even on my regular 15 Pro it feels like lots of space is wasted or, at least, could be used more efficiently.

The screen could easily fit 5 icons in a row, for example, or have widgets that contain more information.

That's great, but not exactly an obvious place to look, and I'm going to assume that applies to every UI interface that has a slide option, so it doesn't just apply it to alarms. This is a band-aid fix, not a clock specific option.

Yeah, it needs to just do what you want knowing that you aren't awake enough to tell it what you want.

By the way, if you aren't very awake yet, how do you know you need to hit the stop button and not the snooze button? And if you are awake enough to know then why aren't you awake enough to know how to swipe?
Some valid points and questions.

For me, I hit the stop button virtually without even 'looking'. I then get up and out the bed and am off to the races.
Yes, you have a point, I could look at the screen and swipe.

PS: I do believe choice is good...

So far, it only applies to alarms and timers as far as I can tell. No other part of the system is modified.
All of the regular sliders, including brightness, volume, etc are still sliders.
I don’t know why you would even call it a “band-aid solution” when you haven’t even tried it. You know what they say about assumptions, right?

Wonder if 26.1 will fix the issue where when a message is set to send later at a certain time, it does not send that message.

Yeah, fix this. Since I installed bugOS 26 on my 16 pro it works terrible:

15PM ... same ... Was so bad I had to update to 26.1RC to see if it fixes this .... Nope ... And battery life is horrid ... Maybe 3-4 hours before it's drained from 100% to well below 20%
