I'm currently on the public beta ios 26.1 testing and it's my first time doing it this way, but I'm wondering does it turn into ios 26.1 stable at some point or just it just stay a beta 26.1 until a 26.2 beta comes out? Just curious, appreciate any additional info, thank you

Apple never should have released 26.0. Riddled with bugs and unoptimized.

26.1 rc1 is so much better and this should have been the real 26.0.

It’s still a massive regression visually, but it performs so much better. It’s strange that this article brushes over the massive improvement there and focuses over superficial changes instead.

No one uses the multi windows on iPad....it's just so complicated...
It makes sense on an external screen. But on the main display it’s a waste of space. Instead they should have kept Split View in non-windowed mode.

Apple’s UX has regressed a lot. Many inconsistencies especially on macOS. Someone counted 4 different tab designs, and I have counted 4 different ways how side-bars contract and expand across different apps. That’s lazy design. Apple used to care about details like this.

They need to quickly release it. 26.0.1 is not great.
I can't wait for everyone to beta-approve 26.1 for me! 🖖
Great! Now I can keep AI turned off in my own language…

Why is it required to have Siri and the device in the same language to enable AI??

I have kept my devices in English my whole life. Not going to switch now.

So no AI for me.
So so SOOOO me too (the better me too). And when you get your friends of families devices when they need help to fix someting and you have NO IDEA where to go or what to do. 🤌🤌🤌

I don’t know about no one, but for myself – I use split screen all the time to pay my bills. Anymore open windows than the two, with a possible option of slide over is indeed complicated. My mind can’t process more than that. I wish there had been a third option, other than full screen and multitasking – the split screen that we already had.

Can anybody explain why are they adding more Apple Intelligence languages, specifically for EU countries where Apple Intelligence is not available? What am I missing?

Apple Intelligence has been working in the EU since iOS 18.4, just the Device and Siri language had to be set to English UK or French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish. Now it will also work in the newly added languages.

I didn’t know this! What a shame. I have all my device languages set to English, but want my Siri in Dutch, but I just found out Apple Intelligence won’t allow that. Device and Siri language must be the same. Very frustrating for all bilingual users.

For me i’m looking forward to disable lock screen camera swipe.

I lost count in how many times i accidentally triggered this “feature” when i am putting my phone in my pocket, and when i need the phone 20-30 minutes later its glowing hot and it’s lost 20% battery just because the camera has tried to focus in my pocket.

It’s ridiculously stupid, and i’m very glad i now have the option to disable it.

Slide for Camera is so annoying, I am always activating it accidentally, when I am carrying my phone around, with my hands full. The same for Siri. I accidentally activate Siri most times, when I am going from my bike to the office, because I have the phone, my gloves and my bag in one hand, whilst I try and unlock the office door with the other.

I had installed iPad OS 26 on my M1 iPad Air shortly after it was released, and I don't like it, so far. The windowing part is ok and it is not that difficult to use, but I don't do much windowing on my iPad, as I use my iPad primarily as an "iPad", and do "windowing" and heavy duty stuff on my Windows laptop. But iOS 26 really messed up the Apple email app and I still have not gotten it back to "normal", and I just don't like many of the other so-called features that were added. But it is the email "changes" that really pissed me off. And finally, I turned off or tried to tone down any of the frosted glass crap that i could, as I find it unnecessary and absolutely ugly. For this reason, my iPhone 13 Mini will stay on iOS 18 for as long as possible, and I have advised my wife not to put iOS 26 on her iPhone 16.

If the 26.1RC becomes the final 26.1 release, nothing else will be downloaded and you will be running the final 26.1 release.

If there is a change between RC and final, you will be able to download an update to get you from RC to final.

I wish I had. Worst iOS I have used since my 3G and whatever iOS came with it. Two of my co-workers have Pixel 10 XL’s and I think it is a time for change.

Wife has a Pixel and I've been eyeballing it pretty hard. The OS layout is really clean and not full of eye candy nonsense.

Still on iOS 18 myself, except on my work phone..

The slide to stop the alarm feature really needs to be optional. I hate it. I never use Snooze, so when I pick my phone up because the alarm's going off, it's because I want to switch off the alarm. That used to be dead simple, but now it has me swiping repeatedly in the dark trying to get the damned thing to shutup. The whole 'feature' only became necessary because they took the bizarre decision to move the Snooze button (for those who use it) right above the 'Stop' button, when before it used to sit in the middle of the screen, well away from Stop.
This is the kind of thing that Siri does well. In a sleepy voice, I either say Siri turn off my alarm or Siri, snooze my alarm. Works well every time. But this is on the iPad Pro M2 with 16 GB of RAM. I have to say it doesn’t work as well on the iPad mini.

Not really conducive to a sleeping partner.

Then again, my M2 iPad Pro has five microphones, and Siri hears me very well in a low voice. Absolutely no need to disturb a sleeping partner. But your mileage may vary., Mine is only anecdotal experience. Just to insert that turning off your alarm and snoozing your alarm are what Siri does well. To give her her props. My girl is much maligned here.
