iOS 26.4 age verification

The 20 year old who has an iCloud account for 12 years but no driving license and no credit card because she has no job. I have ordered her a provisional license for £34 which may or may not fix this.

Do post back here if it works!

This is nuts, just checked when I created my Apple ID, 17th June 2008, so Apple thinks I had the wherewithal to create an account at 2 months 17 days old!

No wonder mama was proud🤣

There are many examples. The tobacco industry. McDonalds installed playgrounds because they knew if they captured customers young they would have them for life. any deliberate act to harm people is already illegal, so in full agreement there...

the issue i referred to is when people use then abuse or overuse a product or service and then want to place blame elsewhere for the ill effects of that abuse or overuse
 
Hi everyone, I am struggling with this Apple age verification too. I’m disabled, and can’t drive because of my physical disability and I’m registered visually impaired (I have the 16 Plus iPhone).

Hopefully we hear an update from Apple but not holding my breath!! ☹️☹️

anyone haveing issues with the weather app cant change it location? for non verify users

Scratch that a reinstall of the app got it to behave

I have started a GOV UK petition which will be live hopefully next week… I’ll send a link when it is.

They have updated to say they support PASS logo cards such as the citizen card

The citizen card hasn’t worked for a lot of people I’ve read, and it’s a monetary expense that most people shouldn’t have to fork out for.

Apple should have put UK passport down as verification of ID - it’s the most acceptable one there is.

Apparently that has worked for some people even though the Apple site says that it doesn't.

I completely understand Paul, my point is I fail to see why UK passports haven’t been included in the valid ID. 😩🤦🏼‍♀️

I don’t think the Government and Apple have thought this through properly.

Hi Ellie,
I could easily verify my age with a passport. However - I live in the UK but I'm not a British citizen. If It makes a difference for Apple. You never know 🤔
 
I gave in and got a credit card, it was playing hell with my work flow. I take burlesque photos as a hobby and it was putting blocks on images I was editing in their mind hiding the explicit bits, when there wasn’t any thing of the sort in the image. So I’m all verified now, but I still think it’s been poorly handled!

I tried and tried til I was blue in the face with my passport - it wouldn’t work after about fifty million attempts.

In the end I gave in and went to the Apple Store in Liverpool city centre and almost had a full on meltdown trying to get my disability bus pass to scan of all things. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ the staff were really nice but basically said it’s a Government issue.

I want to avoid credit cards tbh, I only have a debit card and everything Apple wise including my 16 Plus phone is linked to the debit.

At a complete loss over what to do…

I completely agree it’s been poorly handled - it wasn’t anywhere in the update for us to be pre warned ☹️

Hiya 🙂 I agree about the passports not being accepted. But I’m not waiting up to 6 months for it to be accepted!! Once this GOV petition goes live, I’ll share a link.

I had hell of a job with my passport. in the end I put my iPhone on a tripod and scanned it upside down when it was light.
just about to give up when I saw it start auto focusing in and out. and yes it worked and than it asked for the back to be
scanned I didn't touch it job done..
