What exactly do you want to “check” in my “setup”? It’s a computer with apple devices. We’re not landing Lunar modules here. You seem to take personal offense with everything I do just because I do things differently than you.
It’s hard to tell if you eliminated every other variable when your every response to any kind of help is “it’s only happening with this version, so it has to be 26.4, so be cautious”. Someone suggested checking some settings in Windows, and you responded the same way.

Another instance where it failed mid-process and you were quick to blame 26.4 instead of checking everything else first. It’s not that you’re doing things differently. It’s you deliberately choosing a method that’s been consistently letting you down and your reluctance to move on to any of the better alternatives. I’d suggested more than once to set it up as new using a Mac so you don’t have to deal with the major issues you’re experiencing anymore.

Everyone’s experiencing some kind of issues but you’re literally the only one with such unique problems with iOS.

You might want to sit down for this… I don’t actually own a Mac. Never have! And probably never will! You can stop hyperventilating now.
What does the suggestion to use alternatives do for me in this situation? Let’s not forget that the backup that has to be restored exists in Apple Devices. There is literally no other method for me to choose in this instance.

I don’t claim that 26.4 (or any particular iOS version) is the cause of any particular issue, rather that this is the current experience when iOS XY.Z is involved. We have seen it time and time again how Apple Devices behaves differently with different IPSWs, so I am documenting and reporting on the current behavior, so anybody else bashing their head into a wall can eliminate one variable. 26.4 is just one piece of the puzzle. Behavior may even vary by the device connected to Apple Devices.

If you have a Mac you would prefer me to use next time I’ll let you know the address where you can have it sent.

Any chance you could create your own thread, instead of ruining this one?

I know you don’t have a Mac which is why I suggested you borrow one from a friend before if that’s a possibility.

No one else had seen it time and again IPSWs behaving differently with AD. You’re one of the handful who still use that software and the only one who’s actually having problems. @iOSBry didn’t seem to have any issues with it.
Like I already mentioned before, I read through every post with each release and not once had I read anyone else experience the same. This indicates there’s an issue somewhere with your setup.

No need for personal attacks like “hyperventilating”. We’re just trying to help here so you don’t waste your time restoring every other week.

No need to worry about that, I don’t restore every week and don’t want or plan to. I haven’t undergone a restore since 2022. It’s always the worst part of new iPhone day. No way I’m doing that any more than absolutely necessary.

Restores, by the way, are much worse in Apple Devices than iTunes. Which used to give you a progress indicator bar and an estimated time for completion. Apple Devices provides neither. I almost feel bad for the intern Apple forced to singlehandedly write this program during their lunch break.

PayPal was one of the several apps that randomly didn’t re-download for me, however going to the Apple Store it doesn’t seem it’s letting me manually download it either. Which is kind of a problem as I need to be able to access PayPal!
Is anyone on 26.4 able to delete and then redownload this app?

Is this not the thread to discuss iOS 26.4? Please feel free to redirect me
I agree with @Spocky, please create your very own thread on the topic. It’s more Apple Devices related than anything else and I’m so bored with reading about it in every new release thread. I feel it needs its own thread at this point, so please create your own thread “Apple Devices - how has it worked with the newest iOS update?” and just update that one. Anyone who’s interested can then read and post in that particular thread.

As far as 26.4 goes:

iPadOS doesn’t seem to hold apps in memory for very long. The times I’ve gone back to Safari after only using another couple of apps and it reloads. The other day I had a Numbers spreadsheet open (not a huge spreadsheet, just a personal budget), the Calculator and the Notes app (all Apple’s own apps) and I’d go away from Numbers for a few seconds to do something in one of the other apps and every time I went back to Numbers it was as if I was opening the app for the first time (it showed the default Numbers screen showing Recents, etc, then it would automatically open the spreadsheet I was in and be back to where I was in the spreadsheet - it would take about 5 seconds), it was quite frustrating, not a good multitasking experience.

Also iPadOS, the floating keyboard still glitches. It never happened to me on iPadOS18 or prior versions, so it’s something that’s apparently been introduced with iPadOS26. A previous screenshot I’ve used to show what I mean:

I’m really disappointed that, at 26.4 public release, there’s still these obvious visual glitches and they haven’t been ironed out. (Frankly, in my opinion, something like this shouldn’t have made it to any public release, let alone still be happening 4 major point releases later.)

I tried to use imazing as a workaround to install the PayPal app over USB, however this actually failed too as it claimed it was already in the App Store installation queue. Whatever bug this is in iOS 26.4 should be investigated further

I don’t see others being prompted to share their installation experiences with a particular software version outside of the designated threads for that particular software version

There is no bug with iOS 26.4 and PayPal.
I just uninstalled mine and it successfully re-downloaded for me.

Thank you for checking. There seems to be some other generalized bug with 26.4 that occasionally initiates an app download without actually completing it, and in this case, preventing it from being restarted while still remaining initiated in the queue

Not that I’ve experienced, just deleted quite a few apps and tried reinstalling all. Went through just fine.

It may only become apparent in the process of installing hundreds of apps at a time, as happened after my restore. In my instance I only noticed a handful of apps that refused to install at first, and only one which refuses to install at all afterwards, so it may only trigger in very limited instances. maybe 1 out of 100 apps.

I'm having problems with iCloud syncing across several services. I'm also having issues with automatic brightness; it suddenly stops working, and I have to turn it off and on again for it to work again. Some notifications on the watch aren't showing up, while others, even though I see them on my phone, still appear on the watch. These are occasional problems, but along with the visual and icon loading issues, they give the impression that it's a beta version rather than a stable one.

Your problems are not really related to a particular version of software, as you have the same problem with all versions of the softwares threads you post in.
???

How can I have the same problem on “all versions” if the last time I even attempted such a thing was on iOS 16.0.1? And for the record, experienced no such problem at the time.

There’s been quite a few versions since then

Apple Pay has started to work regularly too. It shows me the movements half an hour or more later than the actual purchase time.

Why do you post about your problems with AD on windows in every iOS thread, if you don't have problems
I only post about problems with apple devices if I have one. which I did, and posted about it so it was clearly documented, and then moved onto other issues. But everyone in this thread seems content to keep bringing it back up. You all talk about Apple Devices more than I do at this point.
