Pretty sure. Curious to see to see if there are again some lunch issues with the 17s.

iPhone 13 Pro: 120 hz wasn’t working in most 3rd party apps (was fixed with .4 update 6 months later)

iPhone 14 (Pro): Opening the camera in some social media apps could cause issues with the camera lenses

iPhone 15 (Pro): the heat was on, didn’t experience that with my phone but that’s n=1
Issues with data migration

iPhone 16: nothing that I can remember

Anybody like liquid glass?
I looked at the beta screenshots for months, let it grow on me, and I have to say... I still hate it.
It would be enough for me to switch to Android, but they'll copy it anyway (as well as Microsoft and Linux and everybody else, basically).
I guess we just have to hold on, waiting for the wonderment to fizzle out until Apple moves on to the next bait and switch.

The translation feature in messaging is seemingly good, as is Workout Buddy on Apple Watch.

Liquid Glass is neither here nor there for me - appreciate the call filtering option.

Still some UI bugs with icons and Apple Music but one can only hope .1 remedies some of the issues 🤞🏽

A couple of companies have jumped the gun and updated their app icons already. I noticed yesterday - trainline and overcast have ‘liquid glass’d their apps!

I mentioned in another that thread that I wasn’t fussed either way, my brother is running it on his 15 with nonissues and seems to like it.

My hand will be forced later in the week as I have taken the plunge on a new 17PM (collecting on Sat 20th). I’m wondering whether it’d be better to upgrade my 15PM now to 1) get used to it this week and 2) so my transfer to the new phone is from a matching OS: one less potential problem to deal with.

Do the update. Data transfer will be less stressful, not 100% sure be the same iOS version could be mandatory as well.

I feel the same way, except I don't have to look at screenshots because I have iOS 26 installed on my iPhone 11. Glass is glass, it looks cheap and gimmicky. Worse, however, are the system's solutions – wasting space on those bubbles, hiding options because the bubble had to appear... poor design decisions.

I'm tempted by the Pixel and Pixel Watch, but my iPhone 15+ is doing great and there's no point in changing. My Series 7 is doing poorly, but it has to cope. iOS 7 looked terrible and quickly improved. Photos also looked bad, and they one didn't last, and it was also such a huge change.

I will stay od iOS18, WatchOS 11 and macOS 15 and will see.

I can only imagine the amount of bugs. But I am very tempted about trying the Call Screening. They should block India from the internet. Every single day I hear voicemails from them trying to scam me.

I would steer clear of this release till 26.1 or 26.2. if you value you battery life, right now the RC is so bad i am looking at wiping my phone and going back to 18.6.2 DFU style as i can not even get half a day off the charger doing absolutely nothing. This has to be the single worst release of a .0 in as long as i can remember. So bad i am coming here to go do not do it run away hide and wait for them to patch what ever bug is sucking down everyone’s battery like mad

iOS 18 set the bar high, but I see iOS 26 has set it even higher 😆

Following three months of beta testing, iOS 26 will be released this Monday, September 15. The update is compatible with the iPhone 11 series and newer, and it will be available to install via the Settings app, under General → Software Update.

iOS-26-Feature.jpg

Below, we have highlighted eight new features included in iOS 26. Even more new features and changes are outlined in Apple's release notes for the update.

Some of the features are only available on newer iPhone models.

Liquid Glass

iOS-26-on-Three-iPhones.jpg

iOS 26 introduces an all-new Liquid Glass design with translucent menus, buttons, and icons.

Apple describes Liquid Glass as "a new translucent material that reflects and refracts its surroundings, bringing greater focus to content, and delivering a new level of vitality across controls, navigation, app icons, widgets, and more."

Lock Screen Enhancements

new-iphone-lockscreen-ios-26.jpg

On iOS 26, the Lock Screen's clock automatically adapts to fill the empty space, and you can view full-screen animated album art for supported Apple Music songs.

New iMessage Features

ten-messages-features.jpg

Here are some of the key new features and changes in the Messages app on iOS 26:

  • Backgrounds: You can now add a background to any conversation, and all participants will see it. You can choose from Apple's selection of backgrounds, or you can set any of your own photos as a background. You can turn off conversation backgrounds in the Settings app if desired.
  • Polls: You can now create polls in group chats, allowing people to vote on topics or questions, such as which restaurant to go to. Apple Intelligence can detect when a poll might come in handy and suggest one.
  • Apple Cash in group chats: You can now send and receive Apple Cash in group chats.
  • Typing indicators in group chats: You can now see who is typing in group chats.
  • "Add Contact" button in group chats: This button makes it easier to add people to the Contacts app in group chats.
  • "Select" option: When you tap and hold on a message bubble, a new "Select" option appears. Tapping on it allows you to select a portion of text in a message, whereas you could previously only copy an entire message.
  • Unknown sender screening: When turned on, this setting automatically moves messages from unknown senders to the Unknown Senders folder, and hides notifications for them until you accept them.

Call Screening and Hold Assist

ios-26-phone-app-screening.jpg

iOS 26 adds a couple of useful features to the Phone app: Call Screening and Hold Assist.

Call Screening is an opt-in setting that asks unknown callers for their name, and the reason why they are calling. And with Hold Assist, your iPhone can automatically wait on hold for you during a call, and notify you when the agent on the other line is ready.

Adaptive Power Mode

iOS-26-Adaptive-Power-Notifications.jpg

iOS 26 introduces an Adaptive Power Mode on the iPhone, alongside the existing Low Power Mode.

Apple says Adaptive Power Mode can make "performance adjustments" when necessary to extend an iPhone's battery life, including slightly lowering the display brightness, allowing some activities to "take longer," and automatically turning on Low Power Mode when the iPhone's remaining battery life reaches the 20% mark.

Adaptive Power Mode is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro models and newer. The setting can be turned on in the Settings app, under Battery → Power Mode.

AutoMix

apple-music-automix-ios-26.jpg

A new AutoMix feature in the Apple Music app can seamlessly transition from one song to the next, like a DJ would. AutoMix replaces the previous Crossfade feature.

Preview App

Apple-Preview-App-iPhone.jpg

iOS 26 extends a version of the Apple's Preview app from the Mac to the iPhone, providing you with a built-in app to edit and mark up PDFs and images.

CarPlay Upgrades

CarPlay-Liquid-Glass-Dark.jpg

When you are using CarPlay with an iPhone running iOS 26, the new Liquid Glass design extends to the CarPlay interface. Like on the iPhone, the new look includes more shimmery app icons and translucent user interface elements.

Starting with iOS 26, you can respond to messages with standard Tapbacks like a heart, thumbs up, or exclamation marks directly through CarPlay.

CarPlay-Messages-Tapbacks.jpg

You can now view your pinned conversations in the Messages app on CarPlay.

CarPlay has a new compact view for incoming phone calls, so that you can still see other information on the screen, such as turn-by-turn directions.

CarPlay's Dashboard screen can now show Live Activities, letting you keep track of things like a flight's arrival time at a glance.

I haven’t used hold assist yet, but the call screening seems to surprise everyone. Usually a friend calling from a different number. I usually have to explain to them it's the iPhone answering an unknown number to find out who's calling and finds out why, basically a voicemail enhancement. It's stopped some spam calls too which was nice.

I just don't understand the new push for a translucent design language. You see this on the Fox NFL broadcasts as well, with semi-translucent overlay elements and low-contrast text. Maybe it's just my old eyes, but this makes finding what you need a lot harder. It's like they've figure out that they CAN do these complex graphics, without asking whether they SHOULD.

Fingers crossed it finally stops playing the first song alphabetically from my iTunes purchase history every SINGLE time I connect my phone to my car for the last 4 years. THE SAME SONG, even if I’m currently listening to anything else in any other app. Tried deleting the Apple Music app entirely as I use Spotify but that broke connecting to my car at all.

Nah, iOS 18 is the stable version now, while iOS 26 will be beta quality for a couple months to come. I don't need that annoyance, nor the update churn. Unless I need to buy a new device, I can be spared any major updates for a year, like I have been with iOS 17 for the past year.
Nonsense. Try 26 it’s stable and smooth.

Unlikely. It’s already very stable.

So, filtering the nonsense out of the list we only have 1 legitimate feature:

Call Screening and Hold Assist.

Great.

On the battery improvements, I already had a shortcut for years to automatically go to low power mode when battery breached 30%.
