PDF signing/editing has been here already. Since like iOS14 or something, so it isn't new. Obviously they have improved/expanded on it, but that's what they always do: take something from the Mac, strip it to something hardly useful, and add features with each iteration.

Is it just me? Am I the only one that thinks those super-tall clock digits are ugly and hard to read?

Me too. Plus I also don't understand why there is no analog clock as an option.

Anyone know what time they are being released? It is nearly 8am now and I am stuck at home with COVID, so something new to play with would be great... But I suspect they won't be released until late evening CET?

Sorry to hear about the Covid, hope you feel better.

Apple usually puts out new OS releases at 10am Pacific time, so 9 hours ahead on CET. sounds like you can expect it at 7pm sharp.

Do the update. Data transfer will be less stressful, not 100% sure be the same iOS version could be mandatory as well.
I took your advice and let it update overnight last night.

I think the translucency is going to take a little getting used to. I like crisp/sharp, this obviously is the opposite of this-i'm not liking some of the bleed from background colours when opening folders etc, but I know time will cure this.

Other than that, it's pretty stable from what I've asked it to do so far;, which is just day to day stuff-few photos bits and pieces, messages, couple of calls, emails, browsing and some social media. And TBF, it's handled all that really smoothly with no issue-wouldn't know any difference from iOS 18 in operation.

In relation to battery drain, it has tailed off a little more than I'd expect to see this time of the morning: I have only ever charged this iPhone to 80% and it's already at 68%, however, I suspect the phone will be running a lot of background activity initially, so I'm not too concerned at the moment.

I took the plunge and also updated my S8 Watch to Watch OS26. The battery has been hit on this one and it's a little bit laggy at the moment, but again, I'll see how it goes over the next few days.

Limiting the adaptive power mode to 15 series and newer is total 🐂💩.
This is classic Apple.

And no one will ever be able to prove it, but bulking up the software (especially UI elements and animations) can really start to impact battery life on older hardware. This encourages upgrades.

I wish they would provide a classic mode which would essentially provide the interface as per iOS 18 and allow older hardware to run the new OS but with the old UI, but they will never do this because it affects their bottom line.

The thing with Apple is that although the hardware is unquestionably top tier on all models, support is fantastic, but they will always encourage upgrades and upsell to maintain revenue. At the end of the day they exist to make money, who can blame them.

Good example (that I have laboured a little the last week or so) is the latest Gen photo editing tools on an iPhone 16. I have a 15PM, but my wife has a regular 16. Photo editing on hers has 'Styles', which I find really easy to use when I want to edit quickly on her phone and gives me some great, quick results. Obv. that option isn't available on the 15PM. However, if I AirDrop the image to my phone from hers, go to edit the image, the software option is available for that photo. If I have a bunch of her photos to send to mine, editing using that feature makes zero (noticeable) difference in performance or battery on my device. Frustrating, as my phone can clearly handle it.

No operating system update should degrade the legibility of any content, period! Once a pioneer for accessibility, Apple has become the opposite of what it was, which is very unfortunate. New leadership is I believe the only solution to this.

Fingers crossed it finally stops playing the first song alphabetically from my iTunes purchase history every SINGLE time I connect my phone to my car for the last 4 years. THE SAME SONG, even if I’m currently listening to anything else in any other app. Tried deleting the Apple Music app entirely as I use Spotify but that broke connecting to my car at all.
This has been a bug for as long as I can remember. Apple ignores it. There’s a long silent track you can add to your library called the silent CD. Then rename the song with an A from another language so it will always be before everything else. Technically, your car is playing audio, but you don’t hear it. It is so stupid. But it has worked for me for years.

I updated my devices on Saturday night. So far a few glitches at the beggining, which I didn't see happening in the last hours across my devices. Especially in calendar, the "floating buttons" takes half second to turn from light to dark mode when my iPhone changed automatically a few minutes ago. Battery consumption is slightly higher that 18.6.2, but probably due to reindexing (I kept my devices charging most of the time throughout the weekend, so the system could work on it). iOS26 is not bad, at least for me, as some comments that I've read in the internet. Will take a while for apps to update, and use the new visual features (i.e the new keyboard with rounded corners).

I feel like i have a problem every year where my phone is running the newer software when the new phones arrive... and it won't let me transfer to the new phone. It forces me to set up as new phone (and then update software before it will even allow me to restore from back up, since the backup is newer).
Is that a problem? In general, it's not unusual for backups to be associated with a given OS version.

That's a funny workaround. I remember this issue happening to me YEARS ago, but it hasn't done it for a very long time. Now, if the car has bluetooth selected as the audio source, it will just autoplay whatever the last media the phone was playing; be it a podcast or music.

Do not install iOS 26! I was using the beta for the last week, the final build rolling out today, and I downgraded back to iOS 18 today while I still can!

First go and use a demo phone with iOS 26 before upgrading. I find iOS 26 to be worse than iOS 18 and earlier.
It’s harder to use with that glass UI. Controls are harder to see, Control Centre is a mess, legibility is terrible. Sub menu fonts are terrible ans harder to read. Apps open slower even though they sped up the animation speed to fool you. Apps have weird opening effect which I don’t like. Apps scroll more slowly and overall the phone feels sluggish. It gets warm always while using it - this isn’t the case on iOS 18. Battery life has been terrible. I had to charge twice a day whereas previously on iOS 18 I only charge once a day at night when I go to bed.

I’m writing this on iOS 18 after having downgraded from iOS 26. My phone feels way faster, runs totally cool, battery is doing much better even though it’s only been about 3 hours. It’s way more elegant and smooth.

iOS 26 isn’t Apple. Their new designer needs to go imo. This is terrible. Get Ive back or whoever took over. iOS 26 is really bad.

And loads of devs are complaining about it too, not only iOS but also macOS. In my opinion, I think Liquid glass is a big mistake overall.

8 somewhat sounds like a small number.. it'a iOS26. This must be one of the biggest shifts in iOS in a very long time. It honestly feels like a major transformation.

Anybody like liquid glass?
On first party apps it's largely fine, especially on iPhone which is really what the UI was meant for (to have content underneath the glass). Third party apps are finally rolling out updates with Liquid Glass implemented. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Lowe's app is using it. Your experience may vary with how well the developer chose to use it. A lot of third party developers will probably not even implement it.

Liquid Glass on macOS is much worse.

Nope… my 13 mini limits charging to 80% too with iOS18.

If you have the setting turned on, it will limit to 80% charging.
If you don’t have the setting, or have it turned off, the phone will overheat, which will also limit it to 80% charging.

Either way, it’s often gonna stop at 80%.
