No, previously the “done” button was on the left, where it makes sense.

Now they’ve moved it to the right (and replaced with a checkmark).

Absolutely wild to have the cancel / X as the left-cornered option. Goes against basic common design sense, and it bothers me. It’s something so simple it’s almost incredulous that they’ve done it this way.
“Done” is always in the top right corner. “Cancel” on the left. You are severely (and incorrectly) overreacting. They just replaced the wording with a check mark and an X.

Have you ever used a Mac? Like… ever? All of the window controls are in the top left corner. So by claiming otherwise is just “common design sense” sounds like you’re speaking solely from a Windows point of view. Apple has also been around for decades.

I have an 11. No AI, no pro-motion, no 5G, not much to go wrong 😁
Most related to the dynamic clockspeed of the processor. Pretty sure they will tune this even further.
My experiences with new iPhones often was that the iOS version the year after the phones release run better than the version the phone was shipped with.

Has anyone had any luck with the call hold assistant? Across the various betas anytime I’ve tried it, it has been a total disaster. It could be a useful feature but as it stands, it is not.

Not so, The builds are identical just have different names (numbers) since they dont come out at the same time. But they are the exact same firmware. Makes zero difference which you select other than the timing of when you can get it.

That is interesting. I was told a lie then.

I found a very strange bug with the new call filtering layout under the “Recents” tab in the Phone app.

If you block a number from your “unknown callers” list, it then gets removed from there a couple seconds later and now appears in your regular Calls list instead.

It’s as if blocking marks the number as “known” somehow, or something along those lines. Weird.

Filed a bug report with screenshots and video. Hopefully it gets fixed!

Really? What corner are the X on in mobile Safari tabs? Or every other browser’s tabs for that matter.

Where is the X on the URL bar in Safari? Before (left) or at the end of the address on the right?

It doesn’t make sense to have exit/close/cancel be an option on the left instead of save/ok.

We read left to right, if I’ve taken a screenshot, an action I have to intentionally do, odds are I want to do something with it and save it. Why would you present an option to cancel first?

And in iOS 18 the “done” label after taking screenshots WAS on the left, now it’s a giant X. I’ve already lost several screenshots by clicking the X accidentally, and there isn’t a prompt to ask if you’re sure you want to cancel, it just closes the screenshot immediately. It’s bad design.

When editing a screenshot/photo within the Photos app, where is the “done” button?

Same place it’s always been…?

When dismissing the keyboard, where is the “Done” button?

Same place it’s always been…?

So your logic of this always being wrong simply does not apply.

It makes much more sense to have the most commonly used option (done/confirm) be on the right because the majority of people are right-handed. Why would you want to reach to the furthest possible location of the screen just to confirm/save something? That would be poor design choice.

You could also just… pay attention?

What is the latest version of PB released by Apple?
I believe it has only released PB 1, based on DB 5. I was expecting PB 2 today but nothing yet. If the second PB doesn't come today based on DB 6 it will probably come tomorrow or early next week.

Now that developer beta is free, how would someone switch from public to dev? My friend installed the public beta but she doesn’t have the option for developer beta when looking at the software update menu.

(I’m a developer so I’ve already had it for years and don’t even remember how I initially did it)

Just go to the developer apple site and login with your apple account and you should get access to developer beta

Just checking in to report that 26 beta 2 has missing contextual icons in iOS, for example when trying to send a photo, or when trying to customize control center. In addition, CarPlay doesn’t show most contextual icons, like searching in Waze or reporting traffic. Beta 1 did not have these problems. Also noticed increased battery usage, but that’s expected based upon prior betas.

When closing an App, the „glass-effect“ around the icon (the white outline) pops in pretty ugly after the animation has finished.

I made a 50% speed video of it, where it can clearly be seen.
It happens all the time, very good visible with dark app-icons like watch app or fitness. And in dark mode with dark icons, it simply looks ugly and cheap. Smooth closing animation, then *poooof* there‘s the glass-border around it.
Hope they fix that.

With folders, the animation is different and the glass border doesn’t pop in like they do with regular app-icons.

The way the messages app transitions into each message thread is hella rough, you see the text box having some glitches and then fixing itself, def needs ironing out, not to mention the conversation backgrounds appear whenever they feel like it lol
