update is 9.1GB and took about 7 minutes to download

I wonder where are all the people who like to tell me that Apple Devices functions totally fine and I am imagining all the issues?

I previously said on my next attempt to update I would try Apple Devices again. Upon shift-clicking the IPSW it just told me it could not install this beta and prompted me to check the microsoft store for a non-existent update

At least it didn't get to the point of half-performing and failing to update/bricking my device in the process! this alone is an improvement over prior attempts

I began the update with 3utools instead at 2:05 PM - 20 minutes later as of 2:25 I am still looking at one of several progress bars on my screen, it appears to be maybe 1/5th complete. I will chime in with the total time taken later
Why are you using 3utools 😳?

Everyone tells you to NOT use Apple Devices but you seem unable to heed that advice

Did they Implement RCS 3.0 yet? I thought they said this was part of 26.0 on launch and wasn't in Beta 5.

Well it wasn’t until recently that I was told on this forum that it was fully functional - that’s why I attempted to use it again. Of course, that wasn’t the case. If I wasn’t misled in this way there would be nothing to complain about. If it gets on the forums nerves then the forum should not be misrepresenting the state of the software to those who have to use it.
I do not do OTA updates nor should I be forced to

Apple Devices is absolutely intended to update or restore iOS devices (please read the previously linked support documents) That said, it is unusably broken and either fails to start the process at all, like it did today, or if it does start the process it bricks your phone and leaves it in a state of disrepair. This has been the totality of my experience with the software despite recent claims here that these issues are a product of my imagination.
I don't see anything about using it for IPSW files or beta software on the support pages, and IPSW files are not really supposed to be in the hands of your common user, outside that ever the program downloads to do an update if its still works like iTunes did.
Complain the windows software not working for you fine but its not really an iOS thing and don't belong there, don't complain about the time its takes you to update using unofficial software.

Don't think you want to open that can of worms....

Yeah and it’s been done to death multiple times now. It’s getting really boring. Can we please move on. Or take that conversation into a new thread. This is not the place for it.

Back OT, really really smooth on my 16 pro max but dictation, spellcheck etc is still up to the usual crap Apple standards.

Updating via IPSW is just as simple a process - or at least it is supposed to be. Either way I have my preference and in almost 20 years of using the iPhone this way I do not intend to change. Apple would not provide the IPSWs if they were not meant to be used
I think they’re mostly meant to exist as an alternate method, just in case. Such as needing to restore a phone that won’t boot, etc. No reason to take all of those extra steps anymore. Just press the button and let the phone do the work.

Ok since no one seems to be biting this is what’s in Preview

What is this blue underline on the messages app?

It makes more sense this way. The previous way goes against every scrolling item in iOS since the very beginning.
I like what they had intended though, and it was nice to have an option. It was a tab bar at the bottom which was to mimic the new tab bar interface in the App Store, music, etc.
