iPad Pro 11 M4 - update via OTA

- Speed wise feels the same as beta 5
- Update collapsed my layout to the left like old OS (see attached)
- Gave me an unable to send Message - I don’t have any messages in queue nor do I send with this device (see attached)
- made me go through a “What’s new” with no way to opt out

More to come ….

I'm in utter disbelief right now. The last beta I tried on my 15 Pro was beta 3, and it was one of the worst betas I've ever used. EVER. So slow and laggy I bit the bullet and went back to 18.6. Just updated to 26 beta 6 and it's buttery smooth. Kudos to the iOS team for making such rapid progress!

I've used them all, and beta 4 is where things really smoothed out. 1-3 were rough in terms of lag and battery life, as to be expected.

It was brought up more recently in another thread and I was told that it was functioning properly, and my problems with it were isolated and/or imagined - and everyone participating in that thread had the opportunity to refute that if it were not the case. Clearly it is still the same as it ever was, but the only way I could have known that was to find out for myself, especially in light of being misinformed. So I gave it a shot. Not sure why this is so offensive. It didn’t work so I moved onto the software that does.
It is functioning properly, Apple does not support simply using IPSW’s of the next version of software, it requires them updating the application, which they will not do until September after the public version is officially out.
This is true on the Mac as well, if I plug my phone running iOS 26 Beta into my Mac running last year‘s software (sequoia) I get an error dialogue box that says it’s not supported.

The Apple devices app for Windows will be updated in September with compatibility for installing 26.0, until then you’re only option is to either find a Mac with the latest developer build of Xcode 26 installed, or install OTA.
I’m sorry this isn’t your preferred method, but it’s simply the way that it works.
It’s frustrating and absolutely confusing, but it’s very expected and normal behavior.

This is quite annoying. It’s constantly syncing with iCloud and that blue bar is there almost all the time. Like it should be in the background not front and center.

This bothers me. First time using an iOS 26 wallpaper, so maybe it’s been there since the beginning. I don’t like how the folder is warped through glass. The folder should be solid on the Home Screen no matter what….lol

Maybe it’s been there since beta 1, but this is the first time I’ve used an iOS 26 wallpaper. I have to switch wallpapers. Ugh, I love the purple background.

Very impressed with this level of performance right out of the box after updating. Everything is incredible smooth and fast, including scrolling in Safari which has been the main offender for me. Loving the Liquid Glass implementation in this beta in dark mode, seems both more glassy and with better readability.

3.4GB on 14PM, downloaded in under a minute. Preparing update was 10 minutes then another 5 to install. So 16 minutes from start to welcome screen.

It is so much better in action. I’ve noticed that even screenshots and screen recordings don’t capture all of the glass effects, for some reason. It actually looks better in motion and on the actual device.
After reading through the thread and your post I decided to take the plunge. Wow you are correct. So far (only an hour or so) I am loving this. Looks really cool with the shimmering icons etc. No issues with to transparent or frosted or whatever. I do use a darker, less busy wallpaper so maybe that helps but not seeing all the “hard to read” issues. Thanks for the post 😁

Anyone else notice Unknown Senders filter in messages is gone? I don’t have any messages from unknown right now, so I assume it comes back if someone messages me that I don’t know.

My phone just auto switched to dark mode and I noticed wherever you tap in the text field there is a slight glow that radiates out and then fades. Very cool. I was holding my finger down when I took this.

Am guessing this has been around since the start of the beta. But I do like this.

I just jumped on the beta with my 16PM at beta 6. The issue that I have is that CarPlay refuses to connect to my 2019 Ford Ranger (SYNC3). It worked great on iOS 18.6. It works great with an aftermarket wireless CarPlay dongle, and it works perfectly (wirelessly) with my wife's 2025 Kia K5.

I am curious if anyone else has experienced any CarPlay issues with DP6, and specifically how a wired connection is working with a SYNC3 (Ford) device.
