Why so much white space on top?

Edit: I figured it out – there the back button is being displayed. Still, if there are no controls on the view, I don't see why reserving all the space.

Unfortunately, as I feared, very little was fixed during the beta cycle. Performance, yes, but this is anyway expected. The UI itself is basically the same with a few tweaks here and there. Most of the details, however, and the readability concerns, stay. It is, overall, a low-quality work.
There are some issues but in terms of readability they made a noticeable progress during the beta process.
Again here: not everyone will be 100% satisfied with this new design. There are people who want the more transparent glass back from DB1, then there are others like you who want it more toned down to increase the readability.
Both is legit, but both won’t be possible at the same time. I think overall they found a solid solution now.
Some details and animations are still lacking, that’s where I fully agree.

Seems like the delta update sizes reported is very much off. It said 10.22 GB but after it had downloaded and said “Preparing to update” the file size was only 1.99 GB.

this is nothing what apple showed us at wwdc, what a mess
Hey guys, come on. It’s been a year since Apple showcased their AI advancements at WWDC 2024, more than a YEAR AGO!!, and we still haven’t seen them delivered. I’m okay waiting for cosmetic updates, but if this is all the innovation they can offer right now, it’s disappointing

Also, the glass reflective parallax effect on the home screen app icons when tilting the phone side to side, seems toned down over past betas, like less glassy and less reflective. ugh.

This would need a smoother effect to not let it look like it’s popping-in.
It just needs to never remove the Liquid Glass filter. It doesn’t when you long-press or single tap it. It’s always there. Until you are actually in the app and return to Home Screen… that’s the only time it’s not. Definitely a bug.

Disappointed in lack of fixes.
1. Wifi toggle still missing glass effect
2. App icons redraw when you change pages.
3. Glass around home icon pops after exiting app.
4. Control center still looks forgotten.
5. Phone app needs buttons to navigate back to their default view.

Overall this iOS 26 is lots to do about nothing.
